  1. Where did you find the images. HELP! Who posted this?
Looking for info on this amazing truck converted into A RV Camper. Does any one here know any thing about this? Who owns this etc. Want to film it for a TV show.

    Robert

Hello Robert, Welcome to my Toy Box. I am sorry , but I got this in one of those many forwarded emails that people love to pass out like free copies of a neighborhood newsletter. I agree it is amazing and I love it. I know a company in South Dakota refurbishes and does a great job with older Semi’s. A friend of mines sister and husband own the company. But who does the camper / trailer work I wouldn’t know. I suggest you continue to search the internet. Good luck. Hugs

  2. Hi Scotties Toy Box,

This Retired Truckers Camper is Amazing! Thank you for sharing! I desperately need your help to help me find out who the Owner is or whom I can talk to about Renting for a TV Show. This is a serious request -
Thanking you in advance for your assistance and most important – we so enjoy your blog – thank you!
    Susan

Hello Susan, and as I wrote to Robert I got the pictures in an email forwarded to me by a friend who got it from another friend…so on. Welcome to my Toy Box and I am so glad you enjoy it. I try very hard to make it an enjoyable and happy place. I do have a friend whose sister and husband own a business in South Dakota where they take old beat up semi tractors and make them wonderful grand rigs. He has shown me the pictures and you wouldn’t believe the changes, they do a grand job on them. Hugs

  3. Seen this unit before. If there are any bedrooms in this thing and with all the windows, I wonder if it might be designed for driving to the beach at sunset. Could this be a land yacht for those who get sea sick.

Hello and welcome. I have not seen pictures of this unit exactly but have seen ones similar. It is hard to tell where the beds might be as it is so well done up. The windows may be like mine in my old RV, totally reflective. If it is just for local beach travel seems a lot of work for not much gain. I do see a bunch of retired semi drivers use the old rig to pull their RV. The paint “for Recreational use only” on the tanks or sides. I do love the look of the rig, and I could live happy in it. I think we in the states have gotten to use to live in the “Biggest House Possible” when we simply don’t need that much room or stuff. Me included. Many hugs and write again.

  4. Since you have had a few inquiries about this unit I thought I should help you out.

It appears it is built by Anderson Mobile Estates and with a price tag of up to a 5 million dollars I really don’t think a retired trucker owns it.

Here is their Web Site: http://www.andersonmobileestates.com/home.html

Here’s another link to the pictures you have posted along with credit to Anderson: http://www.shelterpop.com/2009/04/02/celebrities-in-trailers/

Hello Rob, thank you for coming to our rescue so to speak. There is a lot of interest. Like I said in another comment, we have several retired truckers who use their old semis to haul their fifth wheels but nothing so fancy as that by any means.. I will enjoy looking at the links you shared with us. But for now I must run to work. Many PT’s to help and the boss wouldn’t like me not showing up. Hugs.

  5. Please subscribe me to this site

Hello Kieth. Welcome to the Toy Box and I hope you come back often. If there is a subscribe I think you have to do it, as I don’t have anything to do with that. I post and manage comments and talk to wonderful people who come here. Hugs for you.

  6. I knew it!!. I was recently saying with all the multiple slides in modern trailers that someone would go and pop the top.. and here it is.. WOW!!. amazing!. and amazing that it remains around 14′ high? .. too cool!. I drive truck for FEDEX so this is really cool.

Hello Eric there is a whole web site dedicated to this as I understand it. I think it is awesome, I lived in an RV for several years, Know people who do, and plan to do so again ,and I would love one like this. Welcome to My Toy Box. Hugs

  7. This is the coolest thing yet why don’t we see this at trucking shows or the Pilot magazine wow love it! Yea needs to be in movies!!

Hello Betty I love this RV also. Ron and I are RV people, and selling our home to live in one again. I think the reason they are not in RV shows is that the must be very expensive and custom made, like the Provost RV. So the average person can t afford to even look at one. Hugs

  8. I really thought I was somebody with my single axle Volvo air ride sleeper with my 40 ft. Jayco until I saw this. MAN; This thing is the CATS MEOW !!!

    Thanks

Hello Jim. Thanks for writing in. Ya I wish I could have that baby. We had a 40 foot Open Road 5th wheel. And a grand 2005 GMC dually fully set up. We loved it and wish we had kept it. Fuel fears made us sell, and now fuel is just accepted. Send us pictures of your truck and unit. We would love to see them. Tell about your RVing experiences and I will post them. Hugs

  9. Hallo Scottie,
when I have read this, I remembered our trucker – Darryl.
Are you still in contact with the family of Darryl?
    Nikki

Hello Nikki. I have often thought of him. I saved his emails. I remember how he said it was hard to comment from his phone, and now that I have one I really understand. Miles was the one who was closest to him. I never knew his family. Sad now that I think of it,a nd I would like to think that had I had more time I would have learned more. You should ask Miles about his family and how they are doing. Hugs

  10. We have an old peterbuilt we would like to covert to a camper. Not quit as exaggerate as the ones on your site. Only difference is we would like to have the back of the tractor intergrate with the camper as a whole not detachable. Any idea how much this would cost?

Hello Sheli. No sorry but I owned an RV, I don’t custom design and build them. But there are several custom build shops if you search them. Also some one told me that there is a company that specializes in making semi-tractor trailer RVs. Keep me posted on what you find. Hugs

  11. @Rob…So you assume a “Retired” Trucker can’t afford one of these!!??

Hello DMT, Welcome. I don’t know about retired truckers, but I sure can’t afford one. But I would love to. I had trouble handling the cost of fuel in my big diesel truck to pull my 40 foot 5th wheel. These are very nice that is for sure. Hugs
