Senate Republicans filibustered the Brings Jobs Home Act Thursday. The bill, which would eliminate incentives for companies to move jobs overseas and create incentives to bring jobs to the United States from overseas, was blocked by 42 Republicans; Scott Brown and Olympia Snowe voted with Democrats to advance it.
Under current law, companies can deduct the cost of moving people and equipment overseas from their taxes. S. 3364 would have eliminated that deduction, and created a new 20 percent tax credit for all costs associated with moving overseas jobs back to America.
According to The Hill, “Republicans were expected to support the ‘insourcing’ bill until Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he was unlikely to include any Republican amendments.” Specifically, Republicans wanted to include an amendment repealing the Affordable Care Act. I’m thinking if their support for the Bring Jobs Home Act was contingent on getting a health care repeal vote, they didn’t really support bringing jobs home and were just trying to create an excuse to vote against it. As Reid pointed out, “It’s no surprise Republicans are on the side of corporations making big bucks sending American jobs to China and India. After all, their presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, made a fortune outsourcing jobs, too.”
I think these idiots are protecting their own stock portfolios and the hell with the public…I was forced into retirement because of uncontrolled outsourcing to china. Everyone thinks the current recession started when the housing industry failed because of these stupid banks…. WRONG… It started when out idiot congressmen allowed outsourcing to China without any restraints…. Because of this many manufacturing companies shut down their American factories laying off all their employes. This also caused the sudden increase in crude oil prices because now China’s demand for energy took a giant leap upwards….
Hello Bern. I agree, and thank you for your unique view point. You lived this so have a better view, understanding, than a lot of us. I am glad you shared it with us. I have never understand doing something that will hurt others, doing it knowing it will hurt others just to make oneself richer. Money over the welfare of people and community. You know they often talk about how allowing gay people to marry and have committed relationships will ruin communities. Well all the out sourcing and greed have far harmed the communities more than committed gay relationships ever could. Hugs

Hallo Scottie,
This outsourcing has long been common in Europe.
In my town was a company that moved their production in the 90s to Ireland, where wages were lower. As wages rose in Ireland, they relocated to Romania. Now they have moved to the Ukraine. What will be next?
This is one reason why I despise the turbo-capitalism.

P.S. do you have received my E-mail?
Hello Nikki. I am not sure if I get your email. I think I got one from you a long time ago asking me for a video, but when I responded you did not answer back. Please send me another email so I can be sure I get yours. I do value the email I get and try to respond to each one. Right now I have almost 70 emails to get to , and some I plan to post. As for captialism, I think it is like everything else, in moderation it is a good thing. It doesn’t need to be the only thing, it doesn’t need to be the top or best thing, but part of a working whole. Many Hugs

Well, I’ll try again. First time i got erased half way through the comment!
That is about the sole accomplishment of the Republicans in the Senate the past two years. Mitch McConnell shoud be ashamed to collect his salary.
When they say they are for job creation, it is such hypocracy I don’t know how they can keep a straight face while saying so.
