Post-Gazette.com – For those who suspect that stories of police mistreating black Americans are isolated incidents at best, sensationalized tales serving an ideological agenda at worst, there is a Republican U.S. senator they should listen to: Tim Scott, an African-American who was elected by 68-percent-white South Carolina. In a speech on the Senate floor last week, Mr. Scott told his stories, including one from a high-ranking soldier. Some Americans, Mr. Scott knows, dismiss men like Eric Garner in New York and Philando Castile in Minnesota for their records. So he offered them stories of more respected members of our society who have been treated with suspicion, and sometimes even contempt.
