Plastic free July

Again this is an important message we have to learn. It has to become a way of life to conserve and use less. To use smartly. After all this is the only place that has us, and we need this place to live. Hugs

Ends and Beginnings

ocean pollution“People had more than they needed. We had no idea what was precious and what wasn’t. We threw away things people kill each other for now.” – Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli

I saw a bumper sticker this morning that read “Live simply so others can simply live.” I know that each and every one of us would have our own definition of what living simply looks like. Some make a conscious effort to live simply, others because it is the only way they can afford to live, and others, well others just plain old don’t give a shit. There are those of us whose view is the earth and its resources serve us rather than the other way around. This may be a short-sighted view of today and the future but each of us, knowingly and unknowingly, contribute to that view by our actions.

  1. We try to recycle every scrap of plastic, paper and glass at the Ark’s spot. We go through a lot of containers in the business, and after having been recycling for years, I look back and wonder how many thousands I have sent for recycling that would have otherwise ended up in rivers or the ocean?

    • That is great Ark. We have lived in places where they make it super easy to do. Sadly where we live now the recycling program is almost nonexistent. We do what we can. It all helps. Hugs

    • In many places space is already run out Cory. There are many plans to do fill and cover to reclaim the land. That has problems with toxic material seeping up to the surface and stuff. I admit there is not a good idea what to do with trash, especially the plastics and stuff that have such a decay rate that makes it seem they never decay. I know people are not going to stop using things, packaging things and having lots of trash. The best we can do is recycle and do our best to cut back. Hugs
