Tribalism. My thoughts on the subject. Hugs

  1. Good Morning, Scottie;
    I just got the chance to watch this fully and I like what you said. And, I share your pain: Gracie woke me up at 4:45 this morning because she wanted breakfast…. she is asleep now with a full belly and I am not.

    I remember a long ago prof. talking about racism, stereotyping and how it is a survival instinct. It was in regards to first impressions and how it’s so difficult to change them due to the effect of stereotyping. Essentially, we learn that something is “bad” or “dangerous” or “good” or “safe” and we run with that. Why? Because, determining if a tiger is hungry or just wants a belly rub is not good for long term survival. There is no thought necessary: see tiger, run.
    Somehow that got brought into the current lives, and people who can’t seem to shake this tribal and parochial “we/them” attitude of life. And wow did you hit it with the high school reference. Anyone a bit different there is like a flashing orange zebra just begging to be eaten by lions, I guess, and the only way to survive is to either ridicule and beat down or join the minority to be more than the odd man out. He described the phenomenon as a throw back to that survival mechanism and reminded us that in order for it to work a person has to see something and go to response without thinking. emphasis: Evidently, without real thought is the only way it works.

    • Thank you Randy. Great morning to you. You have been busy in the snow land you live in. I wish your professor had a way to make the tRump supporting stuck in the past can’t see the future people think before they decide to throw stones at the tigers. Oh well, we will drag them into the future even if they don’t appreciate it. Hugs

    • Think it is the reduction of some meds, and maybe the ability to move more. Or I am just shrinking? See I was on a lot of narcotics which slows your metabolism. Now that I am mostly off them I am racing a bit more. Hugs
