Evangelist: God Says Christians Are “Supposed to be Ruling in This World”

Filed under: Atheism, Bigotry, Harm, News, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 10:15

It’s not enough for some conservative Christians to have all the political power that they do. Some of them won’t rest until they have all of it, religious minorities be damned.

Conservatives Andrew Wommack and Lance Wallnau were recently joined on a webcast by Christian pseudo-historian David Barton to talk about the upcoming midterm elections. Barton made the argument that God wants Christians like them to control everything. Wommack agreed, saying very bluntly, “we are supposed to be ruling in this world.”

When Muslims say things like that, conservatives sound the alarms over Sharia Law taking over our nation. When Barton and Wommack say it, it elicits little more than a shrug. Sure they have plenty of power, but they won’t rest until the entire country is run under their very specific interpretation of a very vague holy book.

They demand a theocracy of their beliefs only.   They want the right to discriminate / get rid of those who do not support their views.   Please read the page at the link below.  Hugs

  1. You would think that God could “watch his own stuff.” Instead he put man in charge? Really? We can’t even come to an agreement as to whether he exists or not. Man was his best option? Corruptible, easily fooled man? That’s just poor judgement on God’s part.

Also, I think God, who supposedly loves all people would know that putting one religion (that not all subscribe to) over another would create wars and cause more harm than good. Especially since it’s Christianity which has it’s own guidebook on discrimination.

    • People ask why I am an antitheist. This stuff is why. If they were not pushing hate, discrimination, and theocracy instead of secular society I wouldn’t be so adamant of the harm of religions. Hugs

      • If religion was simply personal such as meditation, quiet prayer or a self-help type of thing, most people wouldn’t care. But it isn’t like that at all. Bigotry, discrimination and oppression are not things one can easily overlook. When lawmakers get involved, it just gets worse and worse. One group’s personal feelings on things becomes law for all. That’s not okay.

So why do christians think they have any right to kill and torture living creatures around?
Is Hate the the consequence of religions or is it just the misinterpreation of the clergymen?
I think it is the latter. I would attack the clergymen verbally – and I do in Germany as often as I can.

    • I try to tell my wife that men (like me) can rule the world. She thinks both men and women should rule together. When I had the Bible on my side, I could claim it was God’s will for the husband to be in charge and the wife’s job was to be submissive. But since we left Christianity behind, she’s all about equal rights and stuff. I may have to re-convert back and show her who’s boss. 🙂

P.S. Don’t tell her I said that. I was just joking but she might not be laughing. She’s not afraid to put me in my place and she never was. Seriously, I’m scared. 😉

Where will it end if sanity doesn’t return, at least in politics by 2020. But even that won’t stop this push to Christian Sharia law and that is exactly what they want.

  4. This evangelist is one of the most stupid and power-hungry clergyman ever.Tell you what he stands for:
In California a 37 year old stepfather tortured the 8 years old son of the boys mother to death, because he thought the boy was gay.
The “man” knocked out serveral of the boys teeth, broke his rips and his skull and burnt him over month, the boy had to eat cat litter and had to live naked in a cupbord. And this was done all in the name of religion.
Praise be the the lord, whoever that is – was sentenced to deathpenalty by a jury and the judge followed.
This is still done in the name even of jesus christ, the god of love, because the clergyman preach that instead of love, which they are supposed to do.
For all of those bigots it is better to reign in hell then to serve in heaven – in Miltons words.
How can christians be soo terribly cruel???????????????????????
Why do christians feed such murderous trolls in priestly robes??

What do these supposedly god-smart guys plan to do about all the other religions in the world when they “take over”? Are they going to kill them off … because God? And what about all us non-believers? Are we going to be chained and put into dungeons until we “repent”?

Seriously … jerks like this make me want to get in their face and screen “Go to Hell!” Only problem is, there isn’t such a place so it wouldn’t do any good. sigh

I want to tell them a few things and then make them show me why they think they have a right to run my sex life and also why they think my long term 28 year long same sex relationship means less than their three failed marriages. Well, be fair — some Christians are humane.

Only problem is, there isn’t such a place so it wouldn’t do any good.

Well, there’s no such place now. If the fundies ever do manage to “rule”, they will quickly make the Earth indistinguishable from Hell, as they did during the dozen centuries when they ruled Europe (known as the Dark Ages).

That’s what happened last time they were in charge (see the Thirty Years War, Albigensian crusade, etc.).

It is truly amazing. I read several conservative Catholic sites and they not only loathe gays and atheists, they routinely denounce Protestants as heretics or worse. Some fundamentalists regard the Catholic Church as the work of Satan. Christians insist they have the absolute truth and we should all accept and believe it, but in two thousand years they’ve never even been able to agree among themselves about what exactly that absolute truth is!

The chaos of religions and sects all over the world is exactly what you’d expect to see if they were all made up by various groups of unethical people using them to gain power over the gullible, and fighting with each other over spheres of influence.

    • I took the like of comments away as I felt that may intimidate some comments. WordPress has taken the like button way on all blogs, you either have to go through the reader to like a post or go to the email notification and do it that way. I am very frustrated about it as it takes many more steps for me to now like a post than it did. What we had was working so WordPress changed it, to make it not workable. They did the same with the reblog button. I think their goal is to force people to use their reader, which I do not choose to do. Hugs

      • Scottie, I think this is incorrect. There is currently an option at the end of your post to “like” it as well as a way to reblog. And I’m pretty sure you can add a “like” button on comments in your dashboard settings. Also, on blogs that have the comment “like” activated, it shows up in email notification as well as on the blog post.

        • Hello Nan. How are you viewing my post. Are you going to the person’s actual page or viewing it from the wordpress reader? If you use the reader the share buttons are there and a like button as well. But if you just go to the page as I prefer to do , where there use to be a like and other buttons on the bottom they are not there anymore. Yes you can add the like button on comments. I took it off the comments as I wanted to see if that made the conversation flow better. Few people were using the like button on the comments. I can add that one back in. What I can not add back are the reblog and like the post buttons. I have it checked on the admin page, but at the top of the admin share page there is a notice saying wordpress has changed the setup. When you say “dashboard” do you mean the WP admin? I will put the comment like back on. Thanks. Hugs

I rarely use the Reader; however if a person has turned off comment “likes” and someone writes something that I think is outstanding, I’ll go into the Reader to click “like.” But it’s not my favorite way to do things. 😦

I’m not sure what you’re saying about the missing reblog option — I see it above — it’s to the left of the avatars of people who “liked” your post.

Yet when I go to your blog I can not like the post. I have to like it from the email or go into the reader. As for comments likes, I turned them back on. I had the same problem following Ben’s new blog. I couldn’t find a way to do it until he liked a post of mine, then next to the notification from the bell symbol. He said it was next to his picture on his blog, but not for me. So now I am very confused. I will go back to your blog to see if I can find them. Hugs

I think there’s a step missing somewhere but without actually “being there” to see what’s happening, I’m not sure how much farther I can go to help. It does seem quite weird, however, and I would tend to think you’re simply missing some small step.

One other suggestion — from your dashboard, open a post that you’re already written (click “edit’). Somewhere below the content, there should be the options to “Show Likes” and “Show Sharing Buttons.” Are both of these checked?

I can only see the likes if I click the bell icon in the upper right corner of any blog I go to including mine that is one I am subscribed to. But from that bell I can’t find a way to like a post, just read who has liked or commented on mine. I went to the settings and both “show likes” and “show share buttons” is checked. I went through the dashboard and the individual page settings. I am stumped. I want those buttons back. Also I use to be able to scroll on a blog and get a follow or unfollow button pop up, now I can’t get that either. Thanks for your help, I am out of ideas. Hugs
