  1. Correction. It’s more than 7,000.
Note: It’s a small sample of 26,000 medicaid recipients so 7,000 is 1/4 of all recipients.
Note2: This is awful! If this programs full 880,000+ recipients were required to do this they would drop more than 200,000 of the poorest people from medical coverage.
Note3: Some of the 7,000 people DID work but because they have no HS education they didn’t make enough to satisfy the work requirement. This is VERY bad thing. The work requirement is so high that a job at McDonalds/Walmart will not earn enough to meet the requirement.
Note4: Minorities are more likely to be part of medicaid than none minorities. Because the system is rigged so it’s harder for minorities to get ahead.

This is FAR worse than the NY Times made it out to be. The NY Times was overly gentle on this story.

    Hugs
Maybe we can change these states, maybe we can’t but we can shame them enough they might make the right choice here.
Double hugs (just cause you seem like you need it)

    • Thank you Michelle. I was stuck by the harshness of the third thing you mentioned, that low income jobs don’t even count. But in most places those are the only jobs available. You are correct, it is much worse than I thought. It seems like there are sections of the government that want or don’t care that lower income people get badly hurt or even die. I hate to say it is racism, but you mention that minorities are more likely to need assistance. Add to that same government officials do not mind giving corporations and wealthy people more tax cuts and benefits from the public coffers and it gets really suspicious to me. Hugs

  4. I wonder if these are republican voters who may hit back at the ballot box, that is if they haven’t been screwed out of the vote too.

    • I do not know, but as Michelle mentioned, they are normally minorities that get hurt by this and minorities don’t tend to be republicans. Hugs

      • And the hits keep coming. The law does not state only able bodied! So people with serious disablitities that the state says “could perform some labor” would be required under this law to earn (are you sitting down) as much as 1,500$ per month. That is the work requirement of 1,500$ per month (They did say depending on your abilities but by WHOSE judgement is my ability?).

Side note is if you make 1,500$ a month it will affect your food stamps, welfare and other safety nets as well!!!
