Hold up the nomination of Kavanaugh until this is addressed

College Professor Comes Forward As Brett Kavanaugh’s Accuser: “I Thought He Might Inadvertently Kill Me”

Speaking publicly for the first time, Ford said that one summer in the early 1980s, Kavanaugh and a friend — both “stumbling drunk,” Ford alleges — corralled her into a bedroom during a gathering of teenagers at a house in Montgomery County.  While his friend watched, she said, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it.

When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth. “I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” said Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.” Ford said she was able to escape when Kavanaugh’s friend and classmate at Georgetown Preparatory School, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling. She said she ran from the room, briefly locked herself in a bathroom and then fled the house.

  1. WOW! Brave woman! I had no idea she’d come forward. The repukes are rip into her like no tomorrow! Hope she has a strong support system. They’d better AT LEAST hold up the vote on this guy. Probably won’t. They’re repukes. They don’t care. This is awful I bet the repukes knew all along about this and THIS is one BIG reason why they wanna rush this through. Fucking asshole, immoral, pieces of fucking shit!

    • OH they knew alright. Think of it Jeff, an hour after it was announced the chairman Grassley released a letter signed by 65 women who claimed to have gone to school with Kavanaugh ( which is weird as he went to an all boys school ) and said he was a great guy. Now think on that. Do you still have contact with 65 people from your schools days? Could you vouch for any of them today? How quickly could you get them to sign a letter for you? Shit sure they knew about it, and they were willing to try to slip this guy past with no one knowing as that is the republican way. They all feel it is OK as long as they are the ones doing it. Hugs

      • Exactly! That’s the FIRST thing I thought when I heard about the 65 women who signed that letter. Some reporter needs to go find each and every one and find out who they are, when they signed the letter, and why. It’s bullshit. FUCK! I HATE these bastards!

        • I agree 100% this is a clear lie by these republicans. It should be called out. Hugs

  2. I’m very pleased that she came forward. It’s not fair to make accusations that cannot be proved or disproved. She is a brave lady and based on that I am inclined to lean in her direction. I do hope the truth will come out, and of course, regardless Kavanaugh is a a lying bastard who fits perfectly within the Trump Thug circle, not in the Supreme Court.

    • Agreed. It has already been proven he has perjured himself at his last hearing. Yet it is OK because he is an ideologue for the republicans. Hugs

      • It’s shocking to see them defend him regardless of all the evidence that he would definitely rule according to his ideology (which sickens me) with little regard for the constitution. The Roberts 5…disgusting.

  3. I’ve been inclined to believe the accuser from the beginning, in part, because this isn’t the most serious accusation that could have been made. If someone were making up a complete lie out of nothing, they’d allege a completed rape, not a blundering attempt. It would be much more harmful to Kavanaugh and equally hard to refute. This sounds more like somebody simply reporting what happened.

Mark Judge has been interviewed and has denied that the incident happened, but at first he said he had “no recollection” of it, which is a bit suspicious. This isn’t the kind of thing someone might think they had simply forgotten.

Kavanaugh, at least, has flat-out denied it, with no ambiguity at all. Perhaps he realized that anything less would seem self-incriminating. But if this accusation can be substantiated — say, if someone else comes forward with whom Ford talked about the attack at the time — I don’t see how Kavanaugh’s nomination can survive. There are several Republican Senators whose re-election is teetering on the brink. They couldn’t afford to push this through in the face of a credibly confirmed accusation like this, not just a month and a half before the election.
