A comment on a blog I go to

You squandered it on your daily self-enriching golf trips, remember?

I mean, Secret Service costs alone are astronomical. Having bankrputed the agency in less than 5 months after inauguration. A quick rundown:
– Keeping Melania and Barron in New York, forcing SecServ to pay more than $1 million to the owner of Trump Tower so as to rent out all of the rooms on the floor below where Melania and Barron were staying, all the most expensive rooms, of course.
– Plus additional compensation provided to the owner of Trump Tower for the inconvenience caused by the presence of SecServ.
– Forcing the SecServ to give the owner of Trump golf courses more than a thousand dollars a day in golf cart rental fees alone. The only time this ever didn’t happen was that week when the SecServ was bankrupt and had to have a new unlimited budget passed by an emergency act of Congress.
– Forcing anyone and everyone who goes through the doors at mar-a-lago to pay a $200,000 membership fee, or in the case of the SecServ, to have that fee paid for them by the agency.
– And that is per person, not for the agency as a whole.
– And that is for just one property, among the many that Trump goes out of his way to rotate through.
– And that is just the SecServ. With the heads of government departments, their own security, their advisers and other associated staffers. Each one of which sees at least $200,000 land in Trump’s pockets each year.

So go right on ahead and “generously” donate small parts of that $400,000 a year salary to charities that will give that money right back to you by holding events in the Emoluments Hotel… Another place that, due to what goes on there, needs round-the-clock Secret Service protection which all has to be paid for by the government, by the US taxpayers.

If you want to know why the US government is so fucking strapped for cash, look at yourself.

    • Yes, and yet the republicans just appropriate more money for him. Yet at the same time they scream there is no more for education, housing, medicare, medicaid, social security, aid to Puerto Rico, food assistance, and for anything else for anyone not wealthy. But lots of money to go into the siting presidents pockets from businesses he shouldn’t be part of yet is. He breaks the damn law daily and no one stops him. Are we still a country of laws? Do we have a two party democracy or a single party dictatorship? I am beyond frustrated. Hugs
