  1. I don’t reckon religion has an essence. Full stop.

  3. Hello Scottie;
    You and I have spoken about my beliefs, so I won’t go into that. But, I reject in the strongest terms these preachers who pound the pulpit and declare to know God so well with words of hate and anger. I have no idea what God expects of us, presuming there is a God. I recognize that my beliefs are my own, and further, my own way of finding solace in my misery. So, I agree, sadly, that all too often very human conceits come out and cloak themselves in knowledge that isn’t there, control that is unfair, and hate and envy that is “teaching”.
    I heard someone speak on religion and heaven in particular as the rational mind being fundamentally unable to conceive of not existing. The speaker was actually “Adam Ruins Everything” on Netflix, and it was oddly eye-opening for me. So, if you are given the opportunity, please watch. In fact, the courage it takes to accept this is somewhat breath-taking. I also recently watched a documentary about people who jump off cliffs in those wing suits. The mortality rate is huge in that sport, and the interviewee spoke about how if he is to die it is while flying through the air like a bird, living every moment he can. I thought that was huge.
    I also recently watched a wonderfully sung “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep”, and I found it incredibly uplifting and beautiful. I think that the thing that draws me most to the song is the peace that it generated in me. I don’t know what will come of me when my hearts beats its last, but let me find the peace and freedom of being the energy in the wind, the echo of the birdsong.

    Hugs to my brother!

    • Awesome Randy my brother , totally awesome. I will look up those songs and the show you mentioned. Randy I find those who take the most chances with their lives and who say life is meaningless, are those that have never lived and who do not have anything in their lives they value. Really. Think on it a sec. You like your routine, you like your morning coffee, you like you shower and your bathroom products. You like your computer or your TV. I think I made my point, when your dead you don’t have any of those things. So stop glorifying death and get on with living.

      Sorry brother, I know that is not you, but I have gotten a few emails this week nihilist who think we should let it all go to hell so ….that can happen. I do tend to disagree with that view and you know me, a soft teddy bear until I have something I get Feel requires me to act on, then my hard side comes out. Randy I really hope you do not go before I do, I would hate to have to warble many embarrassing songs at your funeral. And don’t doubt I will write them just for that. I am so lucky to have you as a brother. I will go now to look up the stuff you mentioned. ( couldn’t leave a link could Ya , make me look it up, OK I got your card … )

    • Un Randy. Brother have you noticed this series…https://www.netflix.com/title/80117038. Not sure if I got it at the beginning so you may have to look around. I found it hysterically funny. Tried to find the song, but you will have to send me a link, it seems not to be something easily found. Hugs
