    • Yes. They have lost all idea of what the average people and the low income go through. And I don’t think they care. Hugs

    • Slightly off-topic, but just watched this video (yes, I know … a VIDEO!) of Leon Panetta being interviewed by Chris Wallace. Worth a look-see.

      • Thank you Nan. Just got done watching it. As you know I am a news junkie and Sunday news shows I love. I wish there had been more time to go over the aspects of the last question, it was important and kind of blown off with platitudes. Hugs

        • Perhaps. But I do like what he said. And even when Chris tried to “pinpoint” him, he had a sensible and reasoned answer. Unlike the congressman you referenced in this post!

        • The comments in the comment section for that video are classic Russian/Trump trolls working their hardest to deny reality. It really makes my stomach turn.

          • I can not stand the disconnect from reality of these people. Per them everyone who knows or is involved with either the Bush’s or the Clinton’s is a crook, a scam artist, a money stealing thief, a sex fiend, bribed by foreign governments … yet tRump is as pure as freshly fallen snow, totally innocent of any wrongdoing, the most sinless being since Jesus. Hugs

  3. There ought to be a law: In the event that Congress cannot agree upon “keeping the government open”, every member of Congress shall work for free until they agree to fund its uninterrupted operation. And, they shall not be reimbursed for such time!

      • What baffles me is; Here we are the greatest country in the history of the earth and, but we haven’t got people smart enough to keep it running properly and for the benefit of its citizens!!! Q: Is there anyone that might benefit from a shutdown?

        • Very good question. In the world of the “rich and famous” (which pretty much makes up most of Congress) nothing is done unless someone (or several someones) benefits.

          • Scottie, the things you mention are effected indirectly by an internal shutdown, but internally it is degrading and no one, as I see it, benefits. New national motto: “Stupid is that stupid does.” GROG

            • The talking heads on TV news shows this morning said that tRump is now convinced that if he doesn’t get funding specifically for his wall, he will lose the support of his deplorable base, and be constantly attacked on right wing nut job media. So while it is not exactly getting what he wants, tRump benefits by look tough and strong to his base. Which was the entire goal in the first place. Hugs

    • Yes that would be great. However congress exempts themselves from many of the laws they force the rest of the country to live under, and a government shutdown is another one of those. I think it was in one of the years past funding bills that they included that they would get paid regardless if the government shut down. Funny thing was I think it was there was a congresswoman who made a big stink because she did not mind the government being shut down and did not mind the many government workers not getting paid, but she made a speech on how she needed and she deserved her paycheck regardless of the shut down. The hubris of that was incredible. Hugs

        • I don’t see how I took your comment too literally? Did you mean it in jest? As sarcasum? If so that was not clear to me.
You said basically there should be a law that when the government shuts down and government employees are not being paid congress shouldn’t get paid either. That use to be the law. I simply provided the information that congress had already exempted themselves from not being paid. I think they are uncaring pricks as they don’t care that other government workers will not get paid and may in fact face great hardship while congress people who are mostly very well off will still get paid. That’s why they are in no hurry to resolves the shut down as it doesn’t hurt them. Hugs
