“What do they have? They have Wilbur Ross saying he doesn’t understand why oh, when he was asked about people going to food lines and pantries and the rest, he says, he doesn’t understand why they have to do that,” Pelosi said.

“I don’t know, is this the ‘Let them eat cake’ type of attitude? Or ‘call your father for money’? Or ‘this is character building for you’? ‘It’s all going to end up very well just as long as you don’t get your paychecks?’”

  1. I believe it’s been their intent all along to do this. Trump’s “handlers” told him weeks ago, perhaps around the first of Dec., that a shutdown wouldn’t really be that big a deal, and it would even work in their favor, when it comes time to shrink the Gov’t. to where “it can be drowned in the bathtub,” in the immortal words of Grover Norquist. After all, the Gov’t. continues to function, even with 400,000 workers furloughed, and another 250,000 forced to work without pay, so what good were they anyway? Just look at the payroll savings! (I’m surprised Hair Furor hasn’t been using this as a talking point, btw.)
Anyhow, it was someone WAY smarter than tRump, but he’s more than just a willing accomplice, just like McConnell is doing his share to promote the downfall of at least a million Americans, if not more, with the rest of us seemingly destined to a similar fate.

    • Hello Dennis. This is what scares me the most. ” …another 250,000 forced to work without pay,”. We already have legalised slavery in prisons. This administration stopped all actions on predatory loan companies. Are we to simply become a slave labor force in service to the oligarchy? Wages have been stagnant since the late 1970 yet profits for companies and CEOs have soared. It has happened in other parts of the world and in those areas the life expectancy has gone way down, there are no services for the people, and the fact of living is simply a grind until you die. I am worried. My generation is the first with no defined benefit plans for retirement. I know of no one in my age bracket that has retirement savings. With the Republicans trying to take away any social security , which is not enough to live on, it equals out to stop working and then die. While the wealthy get richer with every tax cut over the last 40 years. Hugs

      • Kind of a dichotomy …

They take away medical benefits so people die early … yet deny abortion rights so more babies are born. ????

        • Hello Nan. Great catch. Yes they need new workers in the market. One of the worst things to come out of this administration is the idea of school pipeline to trades. Not that trades are not important, they are, but no one should be forced into one. Betsy Devos , the educational secretary is trying to get schools to stop sending or preparing kids for college and instead send those kids to trade schools. No need to educate them past grade 6, 12 years old, then they go into apprenticeships. They can become plumpers, welders, labors, carpenters, all the things the ruling class needs.

I wish this was just a angry rant of mine, but sadly this is the goal of the new education department of the US. The oligarchy , of which devos is one, wants only willing subservient worker. I have posted on this before. It is one of the many things we have to forcefully push back against. There really is two ideas of our country. One of the wealthy that this is their right to rule over all other and be entitled to all benefits, and the other reality that we all have a equal share in the best and good of our country. Hugs
