Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is famous for being a Evangelical Christian and a completely anti-LGBTQ.   He really dislikes LGBTQ.  So these actions and the way it was done coming from the State Department doesn’t surprise me, but it is an other example of how they are trying to make same sex marriages mean nothing.   As one Anti-LGBTQ activist put it ” Just because they can get married doesn’t mean they get the rights and privilege of a real marriage”.  They are trying to chip away at our marriages just as they have done to abortion rights in this country.  They really are hateful people.   Someone should remind them this is a secular country still despite their best effort to change it to a theocracy.   Please go to the report to read more.    Hugs

NBC News reports:

A federal judge in California ruled Thursday that a twin son of a gay married couple has been an American citizen since birth, handing a defeat to the U.S. government, which had only granted the status to his brother. The State Department was wrong to deny citizenship to 2-year-old Ethan Dvash-Banks, District Judge John F. Walter found. The lawsuit filed by the boys’ parents, Andrew and Elad Dvash-Banks, sought the same rights for Ethan that his brother, Aiden, has as a citizen.

  1. Surely if the surrogate mother of the boys was American that should satisfy the Government as to the boys Nationality?

    • Hello David. I do not know the nationality of the boys mother, but it is a moot point. The State Department doesn’t question a male / female married couples children’s DNA, so why do it to a gay couples children. The fact is that one of the couples is of US citizenship so any of the children born into their family is also. Look at Ted Cruz. He was born in Canada to a Cuba father and an US mother. According to the article

The cases filed in Los Angeles and Washington by Immigration Equality said the children of a U.S. citizen who marries abroad are entitled to U.S. citizenship at birth no matter where they are born, even if the other parent is a foreigner

So this is just a case of trying to deny a gay married couple the same rights of a married opposite sex couple. Hugs
