  1. But I thought putting paper & plastic & glass & cans into recycling bins meant that it was being RECYCLED INTO NEW PRODUCTS. Not sent to other countries to be buried or burned or whatever. So now, it’s being burned here? WTF?

    • Hello SAQ. The process of reusing the material is expensive and so the job of doing so is sent to countries with lots of low paid workers. As the article says if we want to do it here, we have to pay a lot more. China stopped taking our recycling in response to tRump’s trade war. tRump doesn’t care about recycling or the environment, he has shown that. So we are destroying the planet faster than ever. Hugs

      • The Chinese stopped also taking this stuff from the EU last year, so this seems to be rather a general policy not related to Trump especially.

        • Hello Banactee. Interesting I had not known that. When I first reported it here it was attributed directly to tRump’s tariffs policy and china using the taking of the material as a bargaining chip. Hugs

  3. It’s mind-boggling how FEW people give a hoot about our planet.

    • Hello Nan. I had wondered why this area which has so many developments and mobile home parks did not recycle. Now I know, they don’t want to pay the cost. I was planning on recycling our plastic bottles, now will have to find out where we can take them first. Hugs
