Really is there more to be said?

There is hard data that shows that a centrist Democrat would be a losing candidate

Now, why hasn’t the Democratic Party heeded Piketty’s warning? I think you already know why. To quote Upton Sinclair: “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.” The donor base of the Democratic Party consists of a lot of pretty rich people who prefer the Democratic Party to be left on social issues but right on economic issues. The party elite see these wealthy folks as part of the party, and don’t want to nominate a candidate who accurately sees them as class enemies. I wonder sometimes if there are Democratic Party eggheads working for the DNC who are aware of Piketty’s prophecy but are not willing to risk evolving the party, lest they lose their benefactors.

Hello Mistermuse. There is a problem with painting with too broad a brush that it catches everyone in a group. Yet as a group wealthy people work politics to help themselves gain more wealth. I think it was great he was using his money trying to hold tRump accountable. There are some wealthy people who agree the situation we are in economically is not sustainable. Hugs

    Hi Scottie –
I’m fairly certain this concept has been proven already – and more than once. It’s what gave us Reagan, and both Bushes, and now a mango-hued, ferret-wearing shit gibbon. And what ever happened to protests? The Brits were fairly vociferous, while being well-mannered, and of course Mr. “King of the Opposites” claimed they were cheering FOR him, he only saw “maybe a small handful. They love me. They all love me here.”

Hello Dennis. I think for most people it is almost too much to simply keep going and not go under to spend the time and energy to protest. Fo most of us it is more productive to do our protesting in other ways. Physical protesting seems to have little effect on Republicans. When they got push back in town halls they simply stopped having town halls. I was a Hillary supporter and even I found it hard to get excited by her. We need to remember the country wants change, they do not want the continuation of old ways that don’t work for them. Hugs

Yes, the country wants change … and that’s the big reason tRumpsky got elected. His whole platform was about how he was DIFFERENT from all the others. And it’s the reason his supporters are still hanging on. To them, he IS change … and he continues to remind them of that through his tweets and his “executive orders.” However, when push comes to shove, he’s really no different than any politician. He just knows how to “work a crowd.”

Sad to say, if Biden gets elected, the only “change” will be that a few more Democratically supported ideas and actions will take precedence. And even if one of the other candidates happens to get elected, it won’t be long before they too will bend under pressure. It’s simply the way of politics … and politicians.

Hello Nan. I can still hope for the better nature of some people. Hugs

I “hope” as well, Scottie. But as they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Actually, if one is honest, tRumpsky HAS done much of what he said he would do. It’s just the way he goes about it truly grinds on many of us.

Hello Nan. In tRump’s mind the past was the golden age. His minions want to take the US back to a time when white men were in charge, women were expected to just put up with the man’s crap, POC knew their place with no recourse to mistreatment, and LGBTQ simply had to hide. This to his people is MAGA. this is what he is accomplishing. The only thing he can not do is make the US the only superpower to rule the world so they are shutting the world out. Hugs
