  1. Correct me if I’m delusional but by what stretch of imagination will healthcare in America EVER be a non profit luxury?

    • Hello Notes To Ponder. The system we have is capitalism run amuck. The US pays way more for medical care and has worse results than any other developed country. The Medicare for all will still let doctors and medical facilities make a profit, it simply lowers the costs and changes the method of payment. If it can be implemented as it is been proposed it would be a right, not a luxury. Hugs

      • Thanks for taking time to explain. American healthcare is bat shit crazy. Truly depressing from my perspective. That said, I suppose any improvement is better than nothing, certainly worth fighting for. Sigh and hugs.

        • Hello Notes To Ponder. The fact that a prosperous country right next to us has a working version of what we want to do should be enough proof it can work, yet the disinformation put out tries to say your system has left people dying in the streets and there are no doctors in your country. Be well. Hugs

          • My husband spent two weeks in the cardiac intensive care ward, it didn’t cost us a penny. No limits, restrictions or medical expense spared. An American friend of ours saw his wife tossed 30 feet in the air when hit by a speeding car in Los Angeles. She languished on life support for 4 days. Faced with a bill of $150,000 and ticking, he was assaulted with negotiations for her organs – give us her eyes, we’ll deduct $35,000 from your bill, her heart another $50,000 and so on, and so on. She was brain dead, he had no choice, but the manner in which it was handled, nothing less than a business transaction was utterly disgusting. That’s how I see differences in Canada/U.S. healthcare.

    • Hello silverapplequeen. Very true. They will sling any distortion and lie they can to keep their obscene profits pouring in. We have to be ready for the onslaught and fight back hard. We are at a tipping point. Already several candidates that use to be for it, have walked their support back after meeting with big money donors. The facts are on the side of Medicare for All and we have to push them. Hugs

  3. Scottie, by their very nature, rights do not incur costs to other people. If you institute a right to health care, that automatically implies that health care should be free.

    • Hello ragnarsbhut. Religious people demanding the right to discriminate against others in the name of their religion might disagree with you on the point you raise. I do feel healthcare is a human right. It should be free at the point of providing it to the people. There is got to be a method to pay for the providing it of course, but all other developed countries and a few not in that category do so. Our country which loves to claim it is the wealthiest country on Earth should also be able to do so. In fact it should be mandated to. There are somethings that shouldn’t be for profit. There are something things that shouldn’t be up for questioning in our existence. Human rights, civil rights shouldn’t depend on a profit margin. There can not be “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness ” with out quality healthcare the people can use when they need to with out worry they will be denied. Hugs
