This was how I finally started to understand white privilege

Recently an armed immigrant with a known terrorist group entered the US.   This person was met by people already in the US from this same terrorist group.   They planned to go to a rally in Virginia and open fire.  Glad they were caught and arrested.   So I have to admit tRump’s southern border strategy has caught a terrorist planning an attack on the US right?   The guys must be POC right, most likely MidEastern, right?   NO!  The southern border had nothing to do with this.   tRump is wrong.   The man was white!   He came over the northern border from Canada.   He is a neo-nazi.  The group he belongs to wanted to start a race war.  Are we now going to divert money from the military to build a wall between the US and Canada?   Are we going to build concentration detention camps for the illegals coming over the Canadian border?   The policy on the southern border is about bigotry and racism.   It is the MAGA people saying keep the US a white majority and make it a white ethnostate.   Hugs

  1. Wow, those posts are spot on. I’m glad there are people willing to call out those racists. The fact that a Canadian came to America for an anti-immigrant post is beyond stupid. Shoot, I was questioned if I was a US citizen despite being born here and the same with my parents, grandparents, etc. My maternal African-American side of the family has been here longer than my paternal side since they came from England and Scotland with my great-grandfather. It’s never about immigration. It was ALWAYS about race.

    • Hello ospreyshire. I agree. It infuriates me. I know there are better ways if we can get the racist out of power. I hate the way our country is and how that paints all of us. I am sorry you and your family have been affected by this bigotry. It is unfair and very wrong. Be well. Hugs

      • Thank you, Scottie. I certainly have similar feelings with America with all of that bigotry. Thank you for being an ally.

  2. I felt awful liking this, especially after reading those posts from other people, but this is the side of racism and maga and 45’s base that most of us don’t understand. Now I do and I feel like I want to wash my eyes out with disinfectant. Tweeting this Scottie. People need to know. Everyone needs to know why it happens.

    • Hello acflory. I understand. I do not use the like button on posts to mean the post contents but that I like the information was posted for all to see and understand. It is hard for me and most people to understand deep object racism. We have better understanding, scientific evidence that we are all the same species. I never see orange cats hating gray cats for their color? Same with many species, the markings are different, yet the co-exist wonderfully. In fact for a long time in our past development it seems there were up to 14 different types of hominids living on the earth without trying to destroy each other. Humans also have different markings. Yet humans are more tribeable and have a religious base so differences are somehow bad and mean you are not one of “us”. I think the greatest thing for my personal growth was being exposed to other cultures and ways over in Europe. To learn of other cultures and other ways, to see that people doing things differently who are people and OK. Bigotry and racism have always been part of us, but is now growing world wide. Our job is to combat it. We all do it in our own ways. Thank you for being a part of the resistance. Hugs

I understand what it feels like to be the victim of racism as I was bullied unmercifully as a 5 year old. Why? Because to pure white Australian school kids, I looked vaguely ‘Asian’.

I’m actually Hungarian but we trace our roots back 1000 years to Mongol tribes invading from the east. I guess I’m a bit of a throwback.

Thing is, I learned from a young age to be proud of being ‘different’ and to hold deep contempt for those who hurt others on the basis of difference.

As an adult I realise those kids were only parroting what they heard from their parents, but the cruelty and need to pick on someone weaker than themselves was all their own. They enjoyed it.

Contempt doesn’t begin to cover what I feel for people like that.

        • Hello acflory. That is what our current time before tRump and the rise of fascism was accomplishing, we were beating down the idea there was a need to pick on the weaker and that we could be inclusive. Then the haters stuck back with force not only in the US but all over the world. They wouldn’t have been able to do it world wide if they had not gotten tRump in office, yet they did use this clueless racist bigot for their goals. Now all the progress is not only lost, but we have generations of new bigoted racist parents who feel emboldened and correct to teach their own kids hate, and to try to force that hate on to the rest of the world. The US really screwed up. Now the world is paying for that as we are. Hopefully with our next election we can turn it around. Hugs

          • I fear there are home grown racists all over the world Scottie. tRump may have given them permission to crawl out of the woodwork, but they were there all along.
I hope the next election does turn things around, for all of us. -hugs back-
