Teen Who Died of Covid-19 Was Denied Treatment Because He Didn’t Have Health Insurance

A 17-year-old boy in Los Angeles County who became the first teen believed to have died from complications with covid-19 in the U.S. was denied treatment at an urgent care clinic because he didn’t have health insurance, according to R. Rex Parris, the mayor of Lancaster, California. Roughly 27.5 million Americans—8.5 percent of the population—don’t have health insurance based on the latest government figures.

“He didn’t have insurance, so they did not treat him,” Parris said in a video posted to YouTube. The staff at the urgent care facility told the teen to try the emergency room at Antelope Valley (AV) Hospital, a public hospital in the area, according to the mayor.

“En route to AV Hospital, he went into cardiac arrest, when he got to AV hospital they were able to revive him and keep him alive for about six hours,” Parris said. “But by the time he got there, it was too late.”

“He had been sick for a few days, he had no previous health conditions. On the Friday before he died, he was healthy, he was socializing with his friends,” the mayor explained.

People are already dying in New York emergency rooms waiting for ICU beds, according to the New York Times. President Donald Trump has denied that there’s a ventilator shortage, a dangerous lie. Trump told Sean Hannity on Fox News last night that he doesn’t like hearing “complaints” from governors and that states don’t actually need more ventilators, contradicting overwhelming evidence that hospitals across the U.S. will need thousands more ventilators in the coming weeks.

“I think that a lot of things are being said that are more [than needed],” Trump said of the medical equipment being asked for by governors. “I don’t think certain things will materialize. A lot of equipment’s being asked for that I don’t think they’ll need.”

  1. We all said this was going to happen years ago when the orange monster was elected. Some kind of disaster. A major hurricane or something. My son thought it was going to be a terrorist attack. But this is far worse.

& all the people who said that Hillary was “corrupt” & complained about “her emails” …. I am (at this moment) more pissed off at them than ever. Especially certain members of my family & some friends of mine. I hold them personally responsible for this mess.

    • Hello silverapplequeen. Yes you are correct the warning signs were all there. tRump proudly told everyone who would listen just what a corrupt narcissistic incompetent fool he would be. He told them he would make money off the job, off the country, and that he would only think of himself.

Stay safe please. This is a serious time and it is important to take all precautions necessary. Hugs

  2. This guy is downright DANGEROUS! Yet his supporters take EVERY word he utters as truth and mentally bow down to him as their Earthly God.

    • Hello Nan. tRump is a promoter. It is all he has ever been. He has been promoting his presidency rather than being president all this time. I wonder if the MAGA parents of children that die from this will still see tRump as the all knowing savior and dear leader? Hugs

      • IMO, their view of him will never waver because doncha’ know? It was the Democrats (!) that brought on the virus so they are the ones who are at fault and will be blamed. C’mon, Scottie. You’re falling behind. 😁

  3. I can’t believe this can be allowed to happen. Being a temporary staff working at the Covid 19 frontlines, I see everyone struggle but do their very best in trying to provide the best healthcare and ensuring all patients feel comfortable. Even though exhaustion some times threatens to get to them, but they are doing their best. Proud of our Malaysian healthcare workers! I’ve written about my personal experiences, and what goes on behind the scenes at the Covid 19 frontlines on my blog. Appreciate it so much if you could share this post and spread awareness on what’s really happening in hospitals right now.
