Report reveals an Obama-era idea to protect medical workers in a pandemic was thwarted under Trump

But Trump’s administration abandoned those Obama-era recommendations. On top of that, National Public Radio’s Brian Mann is reporting that Trump’s administration, in 2017, “stopped work on new federal regulations that would have forced the health care industry to prepare for an airborne infectious disease pandemic such as COVID-19.”

David Michaels, who headed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration under Obama, told NPR, “If that rule had gone into effect, then every hospital, every nursing home would essentially have to have a plan where they made sure they had enough respirators and they were prepared for this sort of pandemic.”

  1. What’s equally disheartening about this is that his supporters have NO CLUE any of this ever happened because they never read or hear about actions like this via their favorite news sources. But even if they did, they would most likely hear (and believe) Trump’s “trumped-up” reasoning on why he did what he did.

    • Hello Nan. I agree to a point. I think there are some that wonder? Not the older ones with no problems or set in their ways from their youth, but the ones that maybe are questioning, those willing to listen to some one slightly off the grid of the hard right.

I am hoping our visitor who commented on the gun ranges will read and understand our responses to their comment, maybe even come back again.

But you are correct on all you wrote, I am listening to the excuses on right wing sites. Ron gets upset when I go to them and listen to them, as he gets angry and frustrated. I do also. But I feel if you want to prevail over the opposition you must know what they are claiming or saying. Hugs

      • I hope you’re right about those “other ones.” We need them!

I tend to agree with Ron … yet on the other hand, I can see your point as well. All I know is I can only take those type of sites in VERY small doses!!
