    • Hello Nan. While I want to get rid of white privilege the protest turned into looting in areas so I read. I can not blame the police for acting in those cases. I have not seen the videos but reports I read said that at least one Target was looted with people seen pushing carts down the street with looted goods. No video so I couldn’t verify it. One thing I will caution most shopping carts have disabling mechanism on them if taken off the stores parking lots.

I then read other reports that said that the police did not react to looting but in other areas simply attacked protesters. I am confused at this point as to what really is happening. I can see racist police wanting to lash out, I can see protesters getting out of hand, I can see both sides thinking this is their last stand. I can see nothing good in any of this.

        • Even though I want to support them for all the crap (and death) that comes their way, I cannot forgive them for this kind of stuff. And these incidents are EXACTLY what the bigots choose to focus on in their hatred and discrimination and (unjustified) killings.

          • Hello Nan. I have been listening to the reports this morning as I did the roundup. What is not getting as much coverage is the protesters who have tried to protect the police building, who have tried to put their bodies between the violent protesters and the police. Many were injured trying to do the right thing. I also wonder how many in the crowds were agitators or bad actors interested in causing trouble instead of getting justice simply to make the protesters look bad. We know that tactic was used in the past on protesters. I agree the violence and looting is wrong, and it hurts the message. But over and over again on the news reports some activist points out, what else has worked. Video after video shows black people being killed and brutalized by police and it still doesn’t stop, the police still get away with it. This officer had 18 different abuse of force complains against him, and he felt he was untouchable for any action he took. He was smirking on the video. So after decades, maybe centuries of abuse the POC are finally willing to do what a bunch of angry voters did by electing tRump, burn it all to the ground and see if something better comes out of it. They have done vigils, they have marched. In Ferguson white racist armed militia guys showed up to threaten the peaceful protesters. The police arrested the Black Lives Matter organizers. The fact is that the brutal treatment of POC by police has gotten even worse in the last three years. I was stunned to read the last time this happened that racist bigots made getting as many of their kind, their groups on to police forces all over the country. They think this is the way to return to a white rights only country, through the police. This police department has a long history of POC shot and unjustly killed on video.
The situation has to change. It can not continue or we will have the race war that the bigots want. I am listening to the Minneapolis Mayor talk about the police officer that killed Floyd, but no mention of the other officers who stood there and made no attempt to stop the killing. They knew it was wrong, they knew he was clearly killing a handcuffed man. Yet they did nothing to stop it, they said not a word, they did not challenge the killer. They are just as guilt in this. Hugs
