Scotties Toy Box

The Many Things In My Toy Box ….my view may change due to verifiable evidence

Spoiled brats not allowed to abuse others are having a tantrum.   I think they are doing it because they know their own methods and feelings and know that if they stay on the force they would be up on charges.  They have gotten away with it so far and now are getting out while they can.   Hugs

Explaining the mass retirement, Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch recently said, “[NYPD officers] at their breaking point, whether they have 20 years on the job or only two. We are all asking the same question: ‘How can we keep doing our job in this environment?’ And that is exactly what the anti-cop crowd wants. If we have no cops because no one wants to be a cop, they will have achieved their ultimate goal.”

Wrong, people do not want no law enforcement at all, they just don’t want thugs breaking the law to harass and kill them.   If you have to be a militarized force above the law and using your gun and badge to harm the people then we don’t want you, please quit and retire.   You are not police, your thugs.  It is clear the mind set of the police that the talk of reform is so upsetting to them.   They are not saying OK lets make it better for everyone, they are demanding no change at all.  No change from their abuses, no change from their killing people, no change from their absolute authority.   That is not a civil society, not a democracy, that is an occupied population ruled over by gang thugs to keep them inline.

Two flyers being passed around by officers state, “NYPD cops will strike on July 4th to let the city have their independence without cops… The people and this city doesn’t honor us, why honor them?” The images provide instructions for a sickout, a form of labor protest that encourages workers to simultaneously call in sick to work, depriving a facility of its ability to operate.

Any that do that should either provide a doctors note or be fired.   When I worked for the hospital you couldn’t call in sick on a holiday and return to work with out a doctor verifying you had an illness.   Plus any such sick days on holidays went against your evaluations.

“People have had enough and no longer feel it’s worth risking their personal well-being for a thankless position,” he said. “There is no leadership, no direction, no training for new policies. Department brass is paralyzed (and) too afraid to uphold their sworn oath in fear of losing their jobs. Sadly, the people of this city will soon experience what New York City was like in the 1980s.”

It is a myth that policing is a dangerous job.   It is not even in the top ten.  I looked at a dozen sites and as for the rank of danger the job presents the most dangerous I could find was 14.  On many lists of 25 it was left off.   Most policing is 99% routine and boredom with only 1% pure adrenaline spike.   So to preach, teach, and drill cops to have a constant fear for their safety and to view every situation as they will die is what is causing all these abuse and unwarranted deaths.  It is criminal to teach police this way.  It incentives the warrior mentality instead of the helpful problem solver mentality.  Hugs

Hi, Scottie – I think the main source of any “problem” like this is what I call the Military Mindset Solution. A lot of these cops are ex-military, and had no other place to put to use their particular skill-set – killing people – once they returned from their tours. Or at least being able to harass, prod, poke, shoot at , and control any civilian populace by means of Deadly Force. And the Police Dep’ts happily hired them, considering such training to be a feature, or a bonus.

And since this is the first time in a few decades that a heavy police-presence was “desperately needed,” they naturally got carried away. And of course, now they have this “Warrior’s Approach” to Crowd Control, and they get to use the same equipment they trained on and used in action, against a “legitimate” enemy. And they were never told or trained to regard us as anything other than combatants when the SHTF, so you get these abuses, followed by the “Warrior’s Attitude:” “You need me more than I need you. And if you try and stop us, we quit.”

But with unemployment numbers so high, there won’t be a scarcity of applicants to replace those who quit, but we need to be sure their training is more thorough and that higher standards are met, and the Police need to relinquish their up-armored vehicles.

    It’s a start.

Hello Dennis. Yes what you said is very true. The militarized police have desired and ached to use their military tools and riot dress. Remember recently when that Sheriff drove an armored vehicle to shut down a bar? This is dress up cosplay the police have been wanting for decades. A lot of these police are bullies all their lives, these police are part of militias, these police are members of white supremacist. Also all this applies to the CBP and ICE. Hugs

Scottie – you know that saying, “Dress for the job you want, NOT the job you have?”

Well, when the Cops show up at a peaceful protest rally dressed for a RIOT, it doesn’t take much imagination to foresee what’s going to happen. And I STILL can’t get over our Gov’t using a clearly-marked Medical helicopter to buzz and dive-bomb the protestors in Lafayette Sq; the Red Cross painted on its doors is a universally-recognized symbol, and it’s almost 100% respected by combatants everywhere as being Totall Neutral, and thus, since it carries no weapons (EVER!), should never be used offensively, in any capacity.
This Rule is adhered to unlike almost any other, even in the Military; I read a Staff Sgt’s report once, as to why he disobeyed a direct order to fly some parts for a weapons system on the only available helicopter. He was absolved of any dereliction of Duty, while his commander was busted down a notch, since he would have been in a Major violation of the Geneva Protocols.

Hello Dennis. Very true, everything you say. But we are on the verge of being an authoritarian dictatorship like Egypt, and so in that case what the Dear Leader wants he gets. I hope we can change this in November or the USA as it use to be is over. Hugs

I’m gonna predict right here that he won’t be (easily) removed come Nov 4, because at 12:00:01 on Nov 3, he’s going to declare Martial Law, finally acknowledging the Virus’s impact, and he’ll have EOs signed to that effect, and he’ll also call out the Military to enforce ML, and order them to keep the polling places closed, using Deadly Force, if necessary, claining it’s too big a health risk to allow the election to proceed, postponing the Election “Until we get this under control.”

And we know how he feels about mail-in voting, so he’ll probly declare those “null & void” by EO, except for “totally valid and necessary” absentee ballots he and his family and staff use.

And I’m also thinkin he’ll only have half the Military support he’ll need, including Nat’l Guard troops, but I’m certain he’ll call upon his “2A People,” and “Bikers for tRump,” and all the other RWNJ and redneck idolators he has, to try to even things up.

In other words, this won’t get settled peacefully, without any hints of violence or thuggery, there’s gonna be WAR.

Hi Dennis … No, I’ve never heard of her … so obviously, I don’t follow her (😉) and have not read anything she’s written.

Quite frankly, the way her blog is laid out is a turn-off for me. I know some people like that kind of layout (obviously), but I’m not one of them. IMO, only providing the post title (and a picture?) makes it difficult to decide whether or not I want to read what’s been written.

If there’s a particular post you think I should read, please provide the direct link and I’ll definitely have a look-see. 🙂

Sorry, Nan – I thought you might want to see the “Menu” of her latest essays. But she’s an Aussie now, which gives her the ability to watch us from a distance. Here’s the one that says it best, and I urge you to read it. https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2020/06/27/mentally-replace-everything-before-u-s-intelligence-says-with-blah-blah-were-probably-lying/

Hello Dennis. I am not so sure of that. The other popular scenario has him resigning so Pence can pardon him and his family of any crimes he is accused of before any new administration can investigate him. Another scenario under the same lines has him negotiating with the Biden people to give him a pardon or immunity and if they do so he will leave with out protest.

However no matter what tRump may declare or try he can not change the end of his term, vote or no vote. Section 1 of the Twentieth Amendment prescribes January 20, at noon, as the start-finish date for the four-year term of both the President and Vice President. So if he cancels the election on that date at that time House Speaker Nancy Pelosi becomes President with all the powers inherent in the position.

Either way his supporters are going to be a large problem as like tRump himself they think it is fake news he is not really loved and winning in every poll. Hugs

While I DETEST the idea of Trump getting off scott-free, I’d rather the first scenario came into play than the Biden one. For one thing, I think it would hurt Biden if he took this step. I think most people who support Biden see him as the “good guy.” If he were to let Trump off the hook, I think it could hurt him. JMO.

But of course when push comes to shove, I hope neither action takes place and Trump simply LOSES … and then gets slammed with lawsuits and ends up in an orange jumpsuit!

Hello Nan. If Biden simply lets all the misconduct of the tRump admin get away with their crimes then there won’t be any rule of law and no reason for any future president not to do the same things. There needs to be an accounting. Hugs

Scottie – keep in mind that accepting a Prez pardon is an admission of guilt. No, as forceful as he projects his persona, I’m certain he’s going to take either the military-junta-like coup, or the coward;s way out – he’ll simply slink off in the middle of the night, leaving everyone behind, figuring his Pooty-poot will hide him.

Hello Dennis. There is a big discussion going on at TYT whether tRump’s ego will make him stick it out even knowing he is losing because he can not accept losing, or if he will quit once it becomes clear he will lose again so he can then say he could have won but did not want to be president anymore. Interesting arguments on both sides. Hugs

The part about him dropping out and saying “he could have won” sounds so much like something he would do/say. Anything to protect the fragile Trump ego!

Hello Nan. That is the one being pushed a lot. Seems a bunch of upper Republican think tank people are pushing for that before it is too late for someone else to step in and run, but it would be hard for any one to run. Pence would have to do a 180 on Covid response, Republicans would have to do a 180 on tRump batshit, and I doubt the cult of tRump would have the same fever for anyone else. Yet the Mormon cult changed leaders and never lost converts, so it could happen. Hugs

Hello David. Thank you. Hopeful this is a turning point in our country. If we want to have a good country with equality for all we have to change the inequalities in race, education, income, and healthcare. We have a country now that sees its people as tools to make money instead of people who should have decent lives. Hugs

From an article in local paper related to protests and police:

Hundreds of officers across the country were fired, sometimes repeatedly, for violating policies but got their jobs back after appealing their cases to an arbitrator who successfully overturned their discipline — and all-too-common practice that experts say stands in the way of real accountability.

Hello Nan. Yes sadly true. Any reform must include a revamping of the police unions, instilling personal liabilities for officers, and public data bases that show bad actions / what the officer got fired for. Right now police officers that commit open crimes have no skin in the game, if any monies are awarded to the victims families they are payed from the taxpayer funded budgets, not the officer or the police pension fund. Fellow officers will stop the bad actors if if effects their own retirements. Hugs
