  1. The saddest thing is all the science told us this would happen if we didn’t adhere to the guidelines for re-opening. The thing about pushing to “open the economy” is without putting everyone back to work there is no money to spend to move the economy to it was a stupid risk the governors took.

      • What I do not understand is why Republican governors are so subservient to trump.

        • I think it may have something to do with their desire to remain in power in their own state. If their supporters see them as being Democratically- sensitive to the situation, they’ll most likely abandon them come election time. IOW, it all comes down to p.o.l.i.t.i.c.s.

          • It’s too late for most Republicans up for re-election this year (Thank goodness!), but I guess that’s their hope.

    • Hello. Death of Democracy. Yes true. The hardest hit countries managed to hold out long enough to open safely, but tRump couldn’t wait, and the Republicans couldn’t stand to give regular people any government money. tRump panicked and because he doesn’t understand anything he just decided he could wish the virus away , change reality just be insisting it was something different just as he has done all his life. The Republicans don’t want the regular people to see the government can be used to take care of people other than just the wealthy donors. So here we are, the entire gain made has been wasted away and lost. Hugs

      • Drump in so many ways is the worst thing to ever happen to the US. On the positive side, his hate and corruption has exposed the racism in the US. Maybe we will actually make progress toward true equality of ALL US citizens.

        • Hello Death of Democracy. Yes true. tRump enabled the worst people, he gave them permission to hate freely. Before this we shunned those people and so they tried hard to keep their bigotry more hidden.

The US has moved more progressive for decades according to polls. But there has been a die hard racist bigot group of about 25 to 30% that has grown under tRump. These people want to be as uncouth as tRump. They admire his ability to just say what he wants, to insult and bully others with no one being able to call him on it. They want to do everything in their life with no consequence like tRump does. They do not mind him sleeping around and assaulting women because they want to be able to do it.

One problem we have moving forward progressively is that the country is in the control of people in their 70’s and 80’s who have the ideas / opinions of things that were prevalent when they were in their prime. Why are 88 year old people in charge of important committees in congress? They struggle to understand and accept the changed views of most of the country. We are fighting our own left leaders at the same time we are fighting the bigoted right. There is a reason that most Republicans in congress do not understand BLM and are racist in some fashion, they grew up in it. To them it is normal and was the good old days. The congress fights recreational marijuana because they grew up with it as a supreme evil, referrer madness. We need to install younger people in leadership that understand the country / world as it is today. Hugs
