And people like my other-half (leans Republican) can’t see the impact of these actions on our freedoms. It boggles the mind.

Hello Nan. As uncomfortable as it must be I think the turning point is very close if not have already happened. The idea of snatching people off the streets with no due process, no probable cause for arrest, with no charges, with none of the things white people normally expect when dealing with law enforcement. But these people were breaking the law … Uhm no actually. The people snatched were well away from the area of authority given these unnamed federal agents to be patrolling. These were quite simply rouge in every sense of the word. No authority, no justification, entirely designed to produce terror in the people, as one guy said he was terrified as they blocked his vision and kept his hands pinned over his head in an uncomfortable position. Simply ask your other half that if these actions were taken in Russia, or China in Hong Kong would he agree to them? China is doing that same thing in Hong Kong, a formerly semi autonomous city, and now against the treaty signed China has taken over using these very same tactics against protestors. We can not have it both ways, if it is wrong for China it is wrong for the US. Hugs

Next time the conversation turns in this direction, I’ll try to remember to mention China … especially since he HATES them and avoids even buying stuff (rarely possible) that was “made in China.”

I’m not a good debater. I tend to walk away and say something like, “Think what you want. I don’t agree.” Besides, when it comes to politics (and religion), there’s rarely anything a person can say that will convince the other person anyway. I admit that if you’re good at it, you can say things that a person may think about later. However, like I said, it’s not my style. At least not verbally. 😋

Hello Nan. I think the real trick is to say just enough that they will think about later, but not so much that they feel you are beating up on them and they lock their mind from anything you say. Knowing when to stop or move on is important. Something I have trouble knowing is when enough is becoming too much. Hugs
