thumbs up all the way. Yes. People don’t seem to get that the point of the post office was to provide a needed service for communication and business and the government runs it REGARDLESS of how much money is coming in the door. it was never intended to be a moneymaker, at least, not a profitable one. it can pay for some things itself, but it’s meant for everyone’s use like all the other examples above.

Fingers crossed that the postal service will come out of this better and stronger, as in back to before the voting conspiracy. Sheesh.

Hello Chatty Introvert. As I said to Nan, If Biden wins the Postal Service will stay as it was and improved, if tRump wins it will be gutted to make private mail companies more profitable as companies / people have to pay more to private mail companies to get the same service. Hugs

and drive a helluva lot further to drop off packages or pick up their mail, especially since in some rural towns around here the county roads are so bad (or numbering system so mixed up) that they HAVE to use the post office boxes. Deliveries get problematic in those areas, so the central post office is best for them. it’s gonna be a catastrophuck of epic proportions if Dump manages to succeed in stomping out the USPS.

Oh, boy. I am not sure how much the USPS extends into overseas military posts and such as far as connecting deliveries and whatnot, but if it’s not just an armed-services run thing, he’s gonna be screwing with the mail-in ballots of the thousands of troops, diplomats, etc. who are gonna be voting, too. Um… I’d love for Dump to explain all this to the troops now.

Hello Chatty Introvert. Very true. They have already managed to take out 700 sorting machines mostly before the news leaked. That is 90% of what they wanted to do. Those machines have been destroyed with no replacements available. They can not be quickly replaced. So no matter what congress does on that front the damage is done and irreversible in time for the election. tRump and the Republican thugs have won this round. Hugs

and if dems had done that, there’d be armed civvies outside the post offices to intimidate ’em into preventing more damage. What the hell are these people doing? I just don’t get it. Unless it’s to ensure that rent checks and bills get paid late and late charges start surging at every business that has a significant portion of people that need to send money through the mail. Guess they’ll force everyone to do auto bill pay or online only eventually, and then what will happen to the folks with unreliable internet service, no service at all, or those who’ve gotten hacked because now everything they do is on their computer or phone, even if they didn’t want it that way? Ugh, quel nightmare!!!

Hello Chatty Introvert. The Republicans have wanted to destroy the Postal Service for decades. Their goal is to either force people to use a private mail company, of which Dejoy is said to have 75 million or more investments in. The other side of the goal is to force the Postal Service into such disarray and unfavor that it can be sold to a private company for profit. Either way the people of the country lose one of the last few remaining government services that serves them, works for the people, and is something they can afford. Hugs
