Greed on display making life an even harder struggle

Making it hard to mail things without using the post office where they can sell you more stuff, next cut workers. Typical corporate raiding tactic.  In developments like I live in there are multiple clusters boxes like this: Bommer Cluster Mailboxes 16 Doors Type 3 - Private Mail | Cluster ...

Notice the top slot is for putting out going mail in.   In many places they are now sealing the outgoing mail slot.  That forces you to drive all the way to the post office and go inside now to mail anything.   Even the outside mail drop boxes at post offices are gone.   The idea is to force you inside.   We have lost another service for the people that worked well to Republican corporate greed.   How much harder will they turn the screws on the people to make life a constant struggle just to survive?  When will the population say enough and demand their fair share of the countries wealth.    Hugs

Where I live (City of Buffalo, NY) there used to be blue mail boxes at every other street corner, even on the side streets. These disappeared a long time ago & you only see them on the main streets. Now they’re disappearing, too. Going to the post office isn’t an option in my life, I don’t have a car & I am not taking the bus in this time of COVID & of course, the post office isn’t anywhere near where I live (it used to be, but they moved it way out of the way years ago). I walked an hour the other day (half-hour one way, half-hour home) to hand-deliver mail that I once would have just put into a mail box but I wanted to make sure that it got to the person in a timely manner & that it ACTUALLY got there. Now I’m waiting on the reply … I hope I get it. She said she put it in the mail over a week ago.

Hello Polly. It is a shame that the countries tax burden is highest on the lowest incomes, yet the benefits of the tax dollars goes to the wealthiest. The people are finally beginning to see the Republican motto that the government should always serve the wealthy, paid for by the poor. The people need to rise up, vote massively, and change the way the countries wealthy is being distributed upward. Hugs

Hello Nan. Because people pressure worked. Dejoy has promised to roll back his new rules and not take away anymore boxes / sorting machines until after the election. If Biden wins the Postal Service stays for the people, if tRump wins it will be gutted so private companies can make more money as people will have to pay a private company more to do what the Postal Service use to do. For once the voice of the people was heard. They still won’t return the boxes taken, they won’t reinstall the machines, but they will allow all the mail to be delivered, or so they say. Hugs

The USPS was briefly touched on the other night with my other-half (who, as I’ve mentioned before, leans Republican) and he immediately defended the idea of privatizing the mail. When I mentioned a private company’s reluctance to deliver to “the sticks,” he poohed-poohed the idea and essentially said it was a non-issue. Of course, it was the DEMOCRATS who created all the ($$$$) problems we’re currently experiencing …

Hello Nan. Did you explain about the 2006 law passed by a republican congress and signed by President Bush? How that law forced the postal Office to forward fund the pensions 75 years of employees not hired or even born yet? Every potential employee pension had to be forward funded, which no other company does. 6 months after that law went into effect the PO started to default as money shortages began to pile up. Plus as to his argument you can tell him studies have show rural areas of the country have to have postal boxes because private deliver services such as fedex, FDL, and UPS won’t go out to those remote areas single homes. I am not sure about Prime delivery as it is new, but I doubt it. Only the Postal Office delivers to all home address in the US. That is because it was set up that way in the constitution. It is one of the few things the government was demanded to do for the people, like due process. Guess that is why the Republicans are trying to kill both. Hugs

Scottie … there is simply no point in pointing out anything to those who want to believe what they want to believe. And remember, I live with this guy. I prefer to keep us on speaking terms. I just mentioned the discussion because this is a typical response. They always have their reasons/arguments which, of course, are the only correct ones. For me, it’s simply not worth pushing the issue.

Hello Nan. I totally understand and agree. While Ron and I are able to reason out most things he has a strong belief in the supernatural. I learned long ago it is best to be very tactful and careful when walking into those discussions with him. I would rather keep my thoughts to myself rather than upset him or start a needless conflict. Hugs
