USPS email tells managers not to reconnect sorting machines

While Postmaster General Louis DeJoy may be suspending changes to postal service operations, it doesn’t necessarily mean machines that had been removed will be put back in use, according to an email obtained by CNN.

The email, sent hours after DeJoy’s public suspension of changes on Tuesday, instructs postal workers not to reconnect any mail sorting machines that have previously been disconnected.
“Please message out to your respective Maintenance Managers tonight,” wrote Kevin Couch, a director of maintenance operations. “They are not to reconnect/reinstall machines that have been previously disconnected without approval from HQ Maintenance, no matter what direction they are getting from their plant manager.”
DeJoy announced Tuesday he would pause many of the new policies he put in place, including the removal of high-volume mail sorting machines, after postal workers, the public and some lawmakers, sounded alarms the changes were causing massive delivery delays, potentially putting the November election in peril.
Yared Wonde, the president of the American Postal Workers Union’s Dallas Area Local, told CNN that management at the Dallas processing and distribution center, which serves nearly all of Dallas, unsuccessfully tried to put back four delivery bar code sorter machines.
DBCS machines make up the bulk of the mail sorting operation across USPS, handling envelopes which includes ballots heading to voters.
The machines, which Wonde says were removed in July, cannot be put back into service because they are missing pieces. Wonde said it was unclear what moved management at the Dallas facility to attempt to reassemble the DBCS machines.

Hello Polly. Yes first they lie to congress and then try to secretly keep damaging the Postal Service. We will have to admit that because they did this before being caught the damage is done. It wont be fixed until the Democrats win the Senate, the WH, and keep the house. We have to win both the WH and Senate. The House came back and voted $25 billion in emergency funds for the post office and McConnell in the Senate said he wont even bring it up. He doesn’t care about the people and their needs. He is as much a grifter as tRump but far smarter. Hugs

Tell me how can Trump get away with that! Where are the checks and balances? What the hell is going on here. Are we Russia or China?

We have a Russian puppet sitting in the Oval Office. Does that answer your question? 😉

Hello Angela. No sadly we do not have a functioning congress that will act as they were designed to, as a break on a runaway president. The Republicans in congress have shown they fear displeasing tRump. Tribe of R before the good of the country.

As for the courts, have you notice that they have spent nearly four years packing all levels of the courts with life time appointment of young Christian Ideologues who rule based on right wing ideology and their religion rather than the rule of law? This is a serious problem that has already had an effect where tRump appointed judges have ruled for him with no legal basis only to be over turned in the applet courts where tRump doesn’t completely control yet. The holding open the SCOTUS seat preventing Obama from filling it and then the weird retirement of Justice Kennedy, whose son worked for the bank who approved many of tRump’s loans and was under investigation, retired letting tRump shift the whole court right and pro business and anti the people. The situation is grave Angela. I follow the news seriously, and I have to tell you our country is really on a knife edge of losing our Democracy. Only the rising up of the people such as they have done for BLM will save our democracy and our country. But voting out tRump is only the start. Best wishes. Hugs

Hello Angela. tRump gets away with it because he has cowed all the Republican elected officials at any level of the party. tRump’s base is a cult, not a political party. They will vote for who he tells them to and vote against who he tells them too. Republicans are a minority in the country and to keep power they have gerrymandered and rigged their voting districts. That causes them to go more to the right every election, but also means anyone the Dear Leader tRump is against will lose their primary. So Republicans in congress need to keep in tRump’s good graces if they want to keep their positions of power. Their positions in government let them gain wealth. Republicans crave power and wealth more than democracy. If they are faced with losing their office and power they will ditch democracy in a heartbeat.

Yes the Republican party has shown for decades they want a single party controlling the country like China has, with them as the ruling party. That is why they cheat so hard, while they are the minority in the country. The do not win on policy, most of the country wants what they are against. They do not win on inclusion and diversity as they are an exclusion party of mostly white people, and mostly older white people with their ideas of how things should be stuck in the 1950’s or earlier. The leadership of both parties are in their 70s and 80s. Some are upper 80’s. They can not relate to the culture of today. They are all wealthy in congress except for a few newer ones, and those that are millionaires can not relate to the economic decline of the lower incomes over the last 40 years. That is why we are where we are and why tRump gets away with his crimes, we lost the country to the wealthy and they like what he is doing for them. Hugs
