Right Wingers Put Out Fake Drop Boxes In California

CBS Los Angeles reports:

Shannon Kaehny first spotted it on Facebook: a grey metal container with a taped sign that read “Official Ballot Drop Box” outside of Freedom’s Way Baptist Church. The pastor, Jerry Cook, had posted the photo with the caption “Our church has a voting drop box in front of our complex — if you are voting early, drop your ballot on by.”

The registrar’s office told KCAL9 they are trying to reach Pastor Cook and are working with counsel to issue a cease and desist letter. However, the drop box is already gone.

Posts on the church’s website show it hosting a forum for Republican local candidates and criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement. With that in mind, some locals said they are suspicious of what the church’s intentions were with the box.

There is more at the link above.    I already left my thoughts on this.   They are sure the only way for tRump to win is to stop people from voting.  When they claim fraud, they are the ones committing it.   Hugs

Guess I’m gonna restart the John Wick marathon again, since I can’t get to my punching bags til tomorrow. There are too many expletives building up in my head over this situation. I can live my anger through Mr. Wick for the evening. This is sick and stupid. I hope they end up doing time. Isn’t interference a federal crime, like tampering with the mail? If not, it damn well should be.

Hello Chatty Introvert. There may be a relief valve for your anger, the state found out it was the GOP party doing it, sent them a letter explaining it was a felony, and the GOP is now back peddling fast. We will see how this goes, but I think these boxes were an attempt to claim voter fraud with mail in ballots. Hugs

I’m just worried how many people used them first, and how many ballots were put in them… and what happened to them (or will happen)

Hello Chatty Introvert. I agree. Now it seems the GOP is refusing to remove them, even though they are illegal. They told the state to take them to court. I think the state should remove the boxes and arrest anyone caught putting up new ones. Seems the GOP has tried to get the rules changed via the court and they have lost every case so they are doing this as a back door attempt to get another shot at a court case. Hugs

it makes no sense, though, because if this is about a national election, or even local ones, the boxes should NEVER be in the custody of a political party. There’s no chain of evidence, so to speak, and no way to verify the rules. How many boxes are there, and how long til they go “see, they missed some boxes, so drop off balloting is the wrong way to go because it leads to fraud and not every vote got counted.” Gah! These guys just want to cheat. This should be a no brainer–whoever the judge is, they need to laugh themselves to tears and tell the bailiffs to arrest the idiots for impeding elections or whatever the statute is.

glad I wasn’t drinking my coffee. that would’ve spit out all over my just cleaned rug. I’m gonna read that again. Guess next time around they’ll close whatever legal loophole you’d call that ballot collection. Stinks to high heaven and I’d love to know who the hell thought it was a great idea in the first place.
