We don’t know what Trump’s supporters (or Russia) have planned for Tuesday

I flew down to Texas to help with the Biden/Harris bus tour, intended to drum up enthusiasm at polling locations. Instead, I ended up spending the afternoon calling 911. 1/

See all these pickup trucks with Trump flags? They were sitting along I-35, waiting to ambush the Biden/Harris campaign bus as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin. 2/

These Trump supporters, many of whom were armed, surrounded the bus on the interstate and attempted to drive it off the road. They outnumbered police 50-1, and they ended up hitting a staffer’s car. 3/

The police refused to help. When I flagged down one officer, he said his hands were tied: “not my jurisdiction.” He was wearing a blue stripe bandana. 4/

Understandably, though nobody was hurt, the rest of the tour was cancelled. And as a historian who studied the rise of the Third Reich, I can tell you: this is how a democracy dies. 5/

While Germany still had elections and Hitler was merely a disgraced politician, his militia of Brownshirts interrupted his opponents’ political meetings and incited violence on the streets. You know what happened next. 6/

We don’t know what Trump’s supporters (or Russia) have planned for Tuesday. We don’t know what kind of intimidation and suppression will inevitably occur. 7/

But we can be prepared. In the next four days, we can create such a landslide that their efforts are futile, sending a message that Nazi tactics have no place in America. 8/

Consider traveling to a swing state near you to canvass in person: https://joebiden.com/where-to-canvass/ 9/

And if you can’t, please commit to one shift of phone banking per day. Since we can’t celebrate Halloween, you could do it with your roommates or loved ones. https://joebiden.com/take-action/ 10/

We have four days, and I sure as hell don’t want to wake up on Wednesday wishing I had done more to save our democracy. Please join me. 11/11

This clearly illustrates the ONLY way Trump can win and/or continue to rule — IF he makes it another term — is through pure and unadulterated intimidation.

I would say a civil war is brewing if he loses. Especially if he contests the results. It’s more than apparent his testosterone-laden supporters are ready to fight. All they need is a smidgen of encouragement.

Tuesday is going to be a VERY LONG DAY.

Nan, while it certainly could get ugly. I guarantee you the minute someone started shooting back at these pricks, most of them would piss their pants and scurry home. People like this are much like the orange idiot. All bluff on the outside and usesless fluff on the inside. What makes them strong, is the fact they have not been contested, and the willingness of the police to let them get away with shit like this.

I’ve seen a lot of guys like this. Many of them so fat and lazy, unshaven, unkempt, no applicable skills except they they own AR’s, and are part of a gun fondling club and like to ride their atv’s in the woods. They would fall apart in a hurry when they got into any sort of fight that wasn’t one sided. They are bullies. Pussies with guns. They think they are cut out for being bad asses, but most of them can’t keep their pants pulled up without suspenders, and waddle when they walk.

I’m more concerned with the lack of police action than I am with the actions of gun toting morons who would likely be accidentally shooting each other in a firefight. Intercepting a political tour bus and running it off the road sounds a lot like terrorism to me. The fact that police would not intervene tells me more about how we should be concerned with the police right now.

        I love your descriptions … 😄

I agree with your concern about the lack of police action. It seems the only times they are there and involved is when they’re dealing with blacks.

          Exactly.

I was at the pharmacy a couple weeks back. I saw a tRump Nazi drive up with tRump stickers on his truck. The guy got out, obese as manatee, belly hanging out under his shirt, he could barely walk, was swaying heavily from one side to the other, breathing heavily with every step, and was open carry with a pistol on his hip. I was behind him in line, not that I normally think this way… but it occurred to me, I could literally have pulled his pistol, shot him 3 times, and put the pistol back in its holster, before the guy would have known there was a problem.

He was there for his athsma meds and his diabetes meds, even with a 6′ social distance thing, you can overhear stuff at a pharmacy.

For the most part a good example of our right wing nutters with guns. 20 minutes away from the truck, these people are in danger of dying from exposure. Biggest threat they are is to an unarmed six pack of cheap beer. But they like to put on a show with open carry, Don’t Tread on Me bumper stickers, and tRump flags flying from their pickups.

Signed, spy for sanity, deep cover in the south.

Hello ShellDigger. I have been posting about the actions or lack of actions by the police the last couple of days. Seems to me they have given up on the idea of serve and protect and moved more to an occupying force who wants to preserve their power to do whatever they wish with no consequences. They are more concerned with preserving their own power than the rights of the people. With the way the police are acting, knowing they are being videoed shows they have no concern what the people think, what the laws are, they are secure in their ability to get away with what they are doing. Hugs

That’s kind of what I think I’m seeing too Scotty. My personal experiences with cops in general gives me a firm opinion that cops are assholes. Add that to what we have been witness to in the last several months and it’s quite clear. Being an asshole isn’t just a job for them, it’s a lifestyle.

You will see a lot of Barneys before you see just one Andy.

They know they can get away with freaking murder. The system backs them up. Covers it up. The cops lie for each other. They plant evidence. They shoot people in the back, they shoot unarmed people, they shoot people who’s house they aren’t even supposed to be serving a warrant in, and walk away scott free.

Nice guys. /end sarcasm. I think we are about a half an inch away from living in a police state. We just haven’t realized it yet. Maybe I’m jumping to a conclusion, but with the advent of video capability on everyones phone, the evidence is adding up.

With regard to Trump Nazis attacking a campaign bus, and the cops did not act. assholes love other assholes. Trump is an asshole. They were probably creaming in their jeans while they watched.

Did I mention I don’t much care for cops?

Did I mention I don’t much care for cops? — I would have NEVER guessed! 😄

My grandson-in-law is a deputy sheriff in the central part of California. He works really hard at being one of the nice guys — and it makes it really tough for him to read about the a-holes and know that to many people, he’s included.

Hello Nan. I know intellectually that there are some good ones. However when the good ones try to correct the bad ones, the good ones get thrown out. I have posted a few of those. If a couple of those cops with Derek Chauvin had pulled him off George Floyd neck there wouldn’t have been a death. Instead they stood there, making them as guilty of that death as Chavin in my opinion. As long as good police look the other way concerning bad cops, how can we say they are good police? Hugs

I do think some of the difference is he’s a Deputy Sheriff rather than a member of the local police department. From my experiences over the years, it’s the PD that have the majority of a-holes.

Nan, Iam very much aware that you can’t lump them all into the asshole category. I have actually met a few Andy’s in my day. Calm, cool, collected, able to read a situation, able to diffuse a nasty scenario without pulling a gun, able to make wise judgement calls before going full on Rambo “kill em all.” I know it is fallacious to lump all cops into a category, and I salute your grandson inlaw.

The good ones unfortunately get lost in the shitstorm of the bad ones.

Hello ShellDigger. I agree with you. These cops are proving what BLM demonstrators have said, the law enforcement in this country is out of control, no longer think they are responsible to civil authority, and believe that they are due instant obedience to any order they give. They are not interested in people’s rights, they are only interested in their power, and retaining that power. I have started to think of the police in terms of gangs. Armed gangs that roam the streets enforcing their will and dispensing vigilante justice as they see fit. If we ever want to curb police abuses in this country we need to get rid of their qualified immunity and make their illegal actions hit them personally. Hugs
BTW, what do you think of this?

Yes, it’s about power. Power is an addction. Look at the orange idiot for an example. Give a jack ass a badge and a gun and you just created Super Cop! 50 ft. tall, the biggest bad ass since Dirty Harry, and everybody looks like a crazed meth head with a gun. Now make them impervious to answering for the crimes they commit upon society.

Not a good situation, and it appears to be getting worse.

That story you linked strengthens my position. Everyone has a right to protest. They do not have the right to physically harass poll workers IMO. The cops involved were assholes, who love other assholes, being assholes.

what the hell? what if people had gotten killed? Not the cops’ problem?
Oh, man, that’s scary. This hateful shit is why I’ve been saying that I’m far more afraid of my neighbors than any foreign terrorist or immigrant coming over the border.
I’m definitely gonna have to look this up some more. How long til this type of thing turns into a bus on fire or riddled with bullet holes?
Assholes. Cowardly assholes. What’s their justification? How scared are these wannabe minutemen that a BUS makes them break out their guns?
    I’m running out of words.
Vote, in the name of everything left that’s good in our country, and all we want to improve. Vote, people.

Hello Chatty Introvert. I agree. I have read a lot of comments on forums where people are afraid to put up Biden or Democratic candidates lawn signs or car stickers for fear of someone attacking their home or car. What the heck, that is not democracy. Good people are unwilling to talk politics because of the anger and violence of the other side. Violence for expressing your political position? In a democracy you should talk politics, you need to be engaged, but in our country too much of the population has gotten away with acting like angry bullies who want their own way and have no interest in your rights. It is your right to engage in politics and they want to take that away. Please be safe. Hugs

Yes, such brave men with guns and trucks in Texas, so afraid of a freaking BUS that they just HAVE to stop it or remove it from sight. Sheesh.

Hello Chatty Introvert. Did you see the staffers car that was hit? Those truck tires ground right into the doors on the passenger side. Ron said someone should be charged with attempted murder. Hugs

macho man will just say “oh, such a rinky dink little vehicle. How was I supposed to see that thing (or feel it get hit) in my big manly truck?” Ugh.
I guess the Dump flags hanging off the back of the trucks just replaced those stupid “truck nuts” to tell you who was a childish frat boy while driving this year.
