These people are no different than any other strong man banana republic. They still think and support that the election was stolen, that regular people know more than the official republicans running the elections, and tRump is the one true now and future king. Why tRump with all his faults, well the anti-Christ is a powerful hypnotizer. Hugs
Hopefully New York State prosecutors can make criminal charges stick. Frankly, the only way to muzzle Trumpnation is to toss his poor excuse for a bobble-head behind bars. Sigh.

Hello Notes To Ponder. I hope so. But he has managed to side step prosecutions before. What did you think of the golden statue? Trolling or praise? Hugs

Argh! Golden statue demonstrates how f’d up social media has become. As for finding a way to toss him behind bars – I’m confident it’s possible. Hugs.

This is 100% on McConnell. He allowed the clown to not be tried twice, to cover up everything, not be held accountable at all.

Hello Randy. Yes you are correct. McConnell is worried only about elections, his and the Senates. He doesn’t run for 6 more years and maybe wont even run again. However getting back the majority is his goal, and becoming leader of the Senate again. So he went to war for the party. He almost won that war. If he had not acquitted tRump after the impeachment trial he would have won control. However he realized he couldn’t win back the majority unless he had tRump’s cult base in his pocket, and if he convicted tRump he would lose them. So he caved, gave in and started kissing tRump butt again. Here we are. Hugs

Scottie, and then there are these quotes:
“This was the most secure election on our history,” said Chris Krebs, the head of cybersecurity for the election, before he was fired by the former president.
“Mr. president, your election fraud claims are ‘bulls**t,’ said Attorney General William Barr in a group meeting with the former president before he was asked to leave his position.
“Donald Trump is a racist, he is a con-artist and he is a cheat,” said attorney/ fixer Michael Cohen under oath to Congress.
“Donald Trump lies everyday even about things of no consequence,” wrote Thomas Wells, another attorney who worked for Trump.
“My uncle will burn it all down to avoid losing the election,’ noted niece Mary Trump.
And, there is many, many more. Covering for a liar, makes you on as well. Americans deserve better than this. Keith

Hello Keith. I agree. You are correct that the US deserves better. Sadly that is not what they are getting. I dislike the two party system as they have ingrained the rules to prevent any others from having power. But in the case where one party is crazy and the other is split in to parts, we should be very worried. We need to either get the Republican party back to reality or we need to expand the party system to include a lot more parties. From what I am reading tRump is gaining strength now that he is back in view, and the Republican state legislatures are doing everything they can to restrict voting to only people that they think will vote for them. No weekend voting so workers can not vote. Only well off white people should vote seems to be the idea. 250 restrictive voting laws being pushed in places where tRump lost. The Republicans can not win democratically by appealing to voters so they are going to ditch democracy and steal power for themselves. Hugs

How propaganda works:
Choose the lie and repeat it as often as possible in as many places as possible for as long as possible or necessary and ignore the push-back. Never admit it is a lie. Belittle anyone and everyone who calls the lie a lie.
It is most effective when public demonstrations reinforce the lie and intimidate the adversary.
Routine dictatorial activity.

Hello Cagjr. What you write is true and it is working for the radical right. Has been for a long time, but now we are at the end game for democracy. If the radical right wins democracy loses. Hugs

The scuttlebutt here and there says that many of these people are “Trump supporters” simply because they’re afraid — not only for themselves (their careers), but for their families as well. Those that have defied Fat-T have spoken of threats and warnings. There’s little doubt the man has powerful allies within his circle.
Of course this doesn’t play a role when it comes to the average citizen. Most of them are simply following the pied piper.

Hi Nan;
I was just recalling the rest of that fable of beings who followed the pied piper.

Hello Nan. But fear does play with the average Republican voters. I was just seeing a poll on The Majority Report. The things that worry the Republican voters are fear induced by Fox News and tRump like people. Number one fear was immigration. It goes down the list with things like defunding the police, and outlawing Christianity. Their voting is all fear driven. Yet no fear of Covid listed.
Yes they are following the pied piper. The radical right or far right media leads the Republican voter because they lie to them, misinform them. As for the elected officials afraid of tRump, they are afraid he will whip his cult followers against them in a primary so they will lose their precious seats. Keeping their position is far more important than truth or serving the people. Hugs

Just let me say:
“To lodge all power in one party and keep it there is to insure bad government and the sure and gradual deterioration of the public morals.”
Mark Twain
This is true regardless of party.
and
“When the doctrine of allegiance to party can utterly up-end a man’s moral constitution and make a temporary fool of him besides, what excuse are you going to offer for preaching it, teaching it, extending it, perpetuating it? Shall you say, the best good of the country demands allegiance to party? Shall you also say it demands that a man kick his truth and his conscience into the gutter, and become a mouthing lunatic, besides?”
Mark Twain
Truth, conscience, religion, and integrity must be forgotten. Once the bribe is accepted, whether gold or a golden promise, one is owned.

Hello Cagjr. From what I read the founding fathers were against the idea of political parties. I am not sure why, but they were really against them. Hugs

He has powerful allies and he has his foot-soldiers in the white supremacist groups. A small number of his supporters are the spiritual remnant of the Confederacy and they see him as the way to their white nation. We saw how they treated the legislators who voted against him.
If the Republican leaders had stood up to him, he would not have had this power over them. He uses their fear as well as their love. He gave or promised, whatever each group wanted. The church got their activist conservative judges. The GOP got their tax bill. The industrialists got their deregulation, and the white supremacists got their tacit approval on open racism.
And you are right about the rest. They do whatever the party says. Party rules.

Hello Cagjr. Thank you for reminding me about the governor of Michigan who was almost kidnapped by white supremacist and who had a nearly violent riot out side her home the militia called a protest. Not to mention the exercise at the state capital that tRump called for that was a trial run of the one on Jan 6th. Hugs
