  • Scottie, when I left the Republican Party around 2007-08, I cited three reasons. Climate change denial, unhealthy linkage with the evangelical and gun rights advocates and a tendency to make things up. The last one is the most important reason, as aided and abetted by Fox News, the lies were fly longer. Both sides told untruths, but it was nowhere close to a normal distribution, much more heavily weighted to the right.

Now, the pseudo news sources are greater in number and include conspiracy websites and parrots, so the lies can fly even further and some can never come down. They are so numerous and fervent, perpetuated by the most corrupt and untruthful president in my lifetime, that reasonable people are denounced for calling out the lies and liars. So, taking a lesson from Putin, Un and Xi, it is easier to create and sustain a lie. And, that is what my former party stands for right now.

    • Hello Keith. Today I posted a story about how the GQP believes that if they can not stop people from voting they will not only lose all the elections, but lose so bad they will dwindle to nothing. But at no time did they suggest they should change. They talked about how to maintain power while becoming more and more a minority. They admit it is none democratic, they don’t care. I shutter when I realize what the party has become, what they want for the country, and what they are willing to do to get it. Then I realize what they really are saying, they are saying that the white minority must never lose power, because they are afraid with out it. Hugs

      • Scottie, citing Steve Schmidt, a former Republican strategist, the GOP move to restrict voting rights and hold on to power is entirely a demographic response. The GOP has long known if they do not recruit younger blood, they are toast. That is probably the only reason they tolerate the corrupt and deceitful former president, as he is bring voters to the table. They are unfortunately seeing he drives voters away as well. Keith

        • Hello Keith. True the party demographics do trend older and very white. Their own studies showed that to remain viable they had to change their polices and attract minorities but that would drive away the older whites. Also as most of the party is older white supremacists that would be against who they are. Instead the openly embraced racism to get the younger voters. They went full Qanon to get younger voters. I think the old guard thought they could control the younger radicals, but they found out that they can not control these radicals at all. So the old guard is losing it all, McCarthy and McConnell are struggling to stay in their positions but know that will change soon. McConnell started planning his exit when he challenged M Greene and it seems she won. Hugs
