QAnon Rep Ends Pelosi Attack Ad With Gunshot Sound

Fox News reports:

Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert calls on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to “tear down” security fencing around the Capitol in a new ad. “You protect what you love,” Boebert says in the ad as she walks in front of the Capitol building.

Some commentators criticized the video, noting that Boebert tweeted Pelosi’s whereabouts on Jan. 6 as a violent mob broke into the Capitol. Boebert claimed she was repeating only what people could see on TV.

Others took issue with the gunshot sound effect at the end of the ad as the Colorado congresswoman’s signature appears on the screen.

This is what the Republican party is now. When they tell us who they are it is time to believe them. This is the party that will do anything to cement their power in the US over all of us, even an insurrection. What kind of people are they appealing too? Hugs

Capitol Police Investigate 2 GOP Lawmakers Over House Metal Detector Incidents

The U.S. Capitol Police are investigating two incidents related to the new metal detectors set up outside the House chamber: one involving a member of Congress potentially assaulting a police officer and the other involving a lawmaker trying to bring a gun onto the House floor.

HuffPost personally observed and publicly reported on both incidents over the last month, and Capitol Police called this reporter in on Wednesday for an interview about both altercations.

On Jan. 12, the night of the first votes after the U.S. Capitol insurrection and the decision to put magnetometers outside the House chamber, HuffPost observed Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho) roughly push his way past an officer who was operating the metal detectors. The best way to describe what Fulcher did was he “manhandled” the officer, a Black woman who was significantly smaller than the congressman.

Fulcher set off the magnetometer that night, and the officer inadvertently seemed to get in his way as he tried to rush past her. But what started as one of those dances you do with someone when you both zig and zag as you try to get around each other, ended as a physical interaction. Fulcher grabbed the officer with both hands and pushed past her roughly.

Fulcher did not appear to be trying to injure the officer, but the incident was nonetheless jarring and out of the ordinary.

That night, HuffPost tried to ask the officer some questions about the skirmish, but she didn’t want to talk to the press. We did, however, observe that she appeared to be shaken from the interaction.

Police told HuffPost they were investigating the matter.

Capitol Police were also investigating an incident that occurred on Jan. 21, when Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) tried to bring a gun onto the House floor. HuffPost also observed and publicly reported on that incident and was a material witness to Harris trying to get another member who had just left the floor to hold his gun for him while Harris voted.

Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho), left, and Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) have come under scrutiny for incidents at the metal detectors that have been installed near the entrance to the House Floor.

Harris went through the magnetometer that day, set off the machine and then complied with a search with a metal detector wand. The police officer conducting the search located a gun on Harris’s side and had a hushed conversation with the congressman. Harris quickly turned back to the elevators, stood around for a moment in a small vestibule outside of the elevator banks and had another quiet conversation with a member. Harris’s comments were not audible, but HuffPost heard Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.) reply, “I don’t have a license for that.”

A Capitol official later confirmed that Harris was carrying a gun.

HuffPost never saw the gun. On Wednesday, the police seemed to be interested in the fact that Harris’s gun was concealed, based on the line of their questioning. Members are allowed to carry firearms on the Capitol campus but are not allowed to carry them onto the House floor, and the District of Columbia requires a special permit for the concealed carrying of firearms.

The two detectives told HuffPost that no charges had been filed in either case but both were active investigations.

HuffPost has reached to both Fulcher’s and Harris’s office for comment.

HuffPost did not file a police report after either incident, and our account is not the basis of either investigation.

Christian Activist: Trump Will Arrest And Execute His Enemies, It’s Going To Look Like It Did In Saudi Arabia

There are videos and his idea that Saudi Arabia is an example of what tRump will / should do.  Hugs

“I’m here to tell you, these people are going to face prosecution, they’re going to face serious jail time, and some of them will face the death penalty. There is no other way forward. Trump declared war against them, and they know that they are facing life in prison or possibly a death sentence.

“This is a winner-take-all game, and Trump is either going to prosecute them and put every one of them in jail and probably have a lot of them executed, or they are going to come after him and kill his family. This is a battle to the death. There can be no clemency, there can be no deals, and there can be not much mercy.

In the clip you’ll see that Hayes predicts that Trump will execute Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and others. HisYouTube clips regularly get hundreds of thousands of views. On Twitter he has nearly 200,000 followers.

Catholic Archbishop: If Your Religion Contradicts the Law, Ignore the Law

Catholic Archbishop: If Your Religion Contradicts the Law, Ignore the Law

The Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin is telling Catholics that they are not obligated to follow lawsthat contradict their faith.

Far from separation of church and state, Martin wants Church to simply ignore the State.

Concerning the Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Bill, which goes before the Seanad this week, Archbishop Martin said, “There’s a clear Catholic teaching that if legislation is against the basic principles of faith of people that they can’t be forced to carry it out.

Asked whether this right of Catholics not to obey laws in certain circumstances also included legislation on divorce, same-sex marriage and family planning, Archbishop said: “There’s a hierarchy of truths in Catholic teaching and the centrality of some aspects. If people have conscientious objection it’s a very important thing to remember it. For me, very often social change comes from people who stand up for their commitments.”

Martin’s assessment might make former Kentucky clerk Kim Davis proud, but if everyone chose to follow only the laws they wanted to, while claiming a religious defense for ignoring the rest, society wouldn’t function. Martin’s fine with faith trumping civil laws… but I have a hunch he would be saying something very different if we were talking about Muslims and other non-Christians instead of fellow Catholics.

Some people really deserve a place in hell

I agree with the title because today as a treat Ron took me to a Chinese lunch buffet.   It was very reasonable price and the food was good.  I love hot and sour soup, but have trouble find a good place to get it as it changes due to who the cook is.  This was great.  I had the soup and one plate of a little of a bunch of stuff.  I have eaten so little lately I couldn’t finish my plate.   Ron made up for it by having five plates, and two soups.   I wish I could eat, and I will keep trying as it has helped bring my sugar down to eat more.   Then we went to the store next door to get me a pair of suspenders to keep my pants up.  It was six dollar suspenders or a fine for having my pants fall off.   The reason for the title above is I was so worn out Ron realized he has to get me out fast.  I had to stop three times walking to the van.  I was so tired I couldn’t lift my legs, my feet were numb and I as short of breath.  He offered twice to go get the van and come get me, but I was afraid I would fall.   Now had I been smart enough to bring my wheel chair ( yes I have a wheel chair and a scooter. ) I would have been OK.  If someone had taken my chair and put an item in it and expected me to walk when I was so unable I think I would have hit them with my cane.  So for me the title fits.    Many hugs.

Mike Huckabee, Asshole of the Day for February 2,…

Asshole Of The Day, Mike Huckabee, Asshole of the Day for February 2,….

Ok I heard someone say that Mike Huckabee’s equating serving gays or not discriminating against anyone of the public.   He says it is the same as asking a Jewish deli to serve bacon warped shrimp.    However that is wrong.   Simply put we are not asking them to EAT the bacon wrapped shrimp.  Simply allowing non discrimination and marriage equity, is not the same as making non gay people have gay sex, get married to a same sex person, nor violate any standing religious beliefs.  It is simply asking people to treat others fairly and with respect.    It is that simple.    Treat others as you would like them to treat you.   Hugs
