What the hell is wrong with these kids and the adults in our country ????

Troops on the border.

Hey everyone, in an attempt to keep tRump’s promise to send the military to defend the border, the Sec. of homeland security has requested troops for the border, and the Sec of Defence is said to be signing off on 800 military members to be sent.

Here’s my question.  By law the military is prohibited from enforcing civilian laws or to be sued as laws enforcement in the USA.    The last time they were sent to the border all they could do was to provide eyes and support for the border patrol.  The military in all their gear in the hot sun would monitor the fence and border and call the patrol if they seen anyone crossing.  They were not permitted by rules to even try to engage someone coming over the border.

Unless there is a declaration of war, the troops can do nothing but cost money and make the presidents base feel macho.  The fact is less people are coming over the border than a decade ago and has been on a steady decline for several decades.  Most of the people from these caravans are not going to reach our boarder and the ones that do are asking for asylum, not a invading force of marauding bandits.  These are mostly women and children fleeing death and rape.

So what the hell is the use of sending troops to the border to stand around and do nothing?  Has not enough money been wasted by this administration?  Why not use that money to hear out the asylum claims?  I am so tired of the attempts by this administration to mislead and to drum up drama.   Hugs

Damn it, our country is better than this.  I do not want this to be the reputation of our country!  Where are all the Christian supporters of the president to complain and fight for the children as their god would demand of them.  Hugs

Thursday, October 25, marks 91 days since a federal judge’s reunification order, yet dozens of migrant children kidnapped from their parents at the border continue to remain under U.S. custody, according to recent numbers from the administration. Of these 66 children, one is aged 5 or under. Of the 66 kids, the parents of 50 have already been deported.

But even kids who are being moved for reunification continue to be traumatized—earlier this month, officials returned a 4 year old to her home country without first informing her parents.

“Instead of reuniting with her deported father, whom she hadn’t seen since they crossed the U.S. border together six months ago, the child spent yet another night in a government-run shelter, according to Kids In Need of Defense, an organization helping the U.S. government to reunify families,” Huffington Post reported.

White woman thinks she has the right to tell spanish speaking people to leave her country. Demands to see their passports.

Filed under: Asshole / Jerk, Bigotry, Children, Family, Food, Harm, News, Political, Race, Religion — Scottie @ 08:59

I am posting it this way because I do not want to put that garbage this woman was spouting on my blog.  However it is important for us to see what a portion of our country has become.  This woman had no idea who these people were , just heard them speaking spanish.   She felt entitled not only to accost them but to demand to see their passports.   Who was she to demand that, a white person.   This is what fox news and the racist president has caused, and that the white supremacist want.  The president says he is a “nationalist”.  He doesn’t need to put white in front of it, we all know what he meant, he is a white supremacist racist bigot.  This is why he had such a hard time blaming the white power demonstrators in Charlottesville and said there were “very fine people on both sides”.   Please wake up people.  The purge has started on Trans people, all the LGBT, the brown skins, the black skins, the people speaking spanish.   The White racist Christian majority is giveing a huge push to make sure they are the only ones with rights, and they are demanding to be superior to all others.  Please go to the web page in the twitter link and read the short report.   Remember this family had children with them and the white woman did not care how she frightened them.    Hugs

S. Carolina: Let Our Taxpayer-Funded Foster Care Agencies Exclude Non-Christians

Filed under: Bigotry, Children, Family, Harm, News, Political, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 09:34

http://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/2018/10/20/s-carolina-let-our-taxpayer-funded-foster-care-agencies-exclude-non-christians/

Donald Trump may grant South Carolina the right to discriminate against atheists, Jews, and all other non-Christian potential parents… all while allowing foster care agencies to retain federal funding.

The state specifically asked the Trump administration if it would allow the state’s faith-based foster groups to exclude parents who don’t share their religious beliefs, citing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

If granted, the exemption would allow Miracle Hill Ministries, a Protestant social service agency working in the state’s northwest region, to continue receiving federal dollars while “recruiting Christian foster families,” which it has been doing since 1988, according to its website. That discrimination would apply not just to Jewish parents, but also to parents who are Muslim, Catholic, Unitarian, atheist, agnostic or other some other non-Protestant Christian denomination.

Sorry if I am not on much or responding in the next few days.  Ron wants me to have a bigger TV as my eyesight has decreased.   I no longer play my xboxes as I can not clearly see the screen on the 32 inch TV in my office.  I had not complained as I have enough other things to do.    This morning Ron decided he wanted to move the bedroom 46 inch ( which has always been my fav TV as it has everything any tech person could want ) into my office.  I asked him to wait until my sunday news programs are over as the move would require emptying four different adjustable shelves, then moving stuff and shelves to a different position, plus all the stuff I had on the floor on the shelves in front of my desk would have to be moved as the top shelf would have to go down there as the 46 inch TV is much larger than the one I have here.  Ron did not understand how big a project it is , but did after I showed him.

Long story short, Ron is letting me move things at my pace , as slow as it is, while he worked on the new paneling in the front room, and now he is napping.    I am very glad to be getting the TV I love, and in truth we simply do not use it there since I got my office.  But it takes a lot of effort for me to move all this stuff, Ron brought in the step ladder as he wouldn’t let me use the step stool,  but I have to take each thing down, decided to keep it or not, if keeping it clean it and decided where to put it.  It is a much bigger job than I intended this weekend.   But I do want the bigger TV.

Thanks for understanding.  I am off to try to move more stuff.  ( side note how did I get so much stuff? )  Hugs

Deported parents may lose kids to adoption

It had been 10 weeks since Ramos had last held her 2-year-old, Alexa. Ten weeks since she was arrested crossing the border into Texas and U.S. immigration authorities seized her daughter and told her she would never see the girl again.

What followed — one foster family’s initially successful attempt to win full custody of Alexa — reveals what could happen to some of the infants, children and teens taken from their families at the border under a Trump administration policy earlier this year. The “zero-tolerance” crackdown ended in June, but hundreds of children remain in detention, shelters or foster care and U.S. officials say more than 200 are not eligible for reunification or release.

Federal officials insist they are reuniting families and will continue to do so. But an Associated Press investigation drawing on hundreds of court documents, immigration records and interviews in the U.S. and Central America identified holes in the system that allow state court judges to grant custody of migrant children to American families — without notifying their parents.

Immigrant Parents Face Arrests, Tougher Rules As They Try To Get Their Kids Back

Filed under: Bigotry, Children, Family, Harm, News, Political, Questions, Race — Scottie @ 10:41

More information at the link.   Hugs

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-administration-arrests-immigrant-parents-trying-reclaim-children

The drama of parents being separated from their children at the border dominated the headlines this year, but thousands of immigrant families are experiencing a similar frustration: the increasing hurdles they must surmount to take custody of sons, daughters and relatives who crossed the border on their own.

The Trump administration has imposed more stringent rules and vetting for family members to get these children back as part of an across-the-board hardening of immigration policy.

As a result, family members are struggling to comply with the new requirement, keeping children in detention longer and helping the number of migrant kids in government custody soar to the highest levels ever. Federal officials insist the policies are about ensuring the safety of children.

More than 12,000 children are now in government shelters, compared with 2,400 in May 2017. The average length that children spend in detention has increased from 40 days in fiscal year 2016 to 59 in fiscal year 2018, according to federal data.

The requirements include the submission of fingerprints by all adults in the household where a migrant child will live. These sponsors — the term the U.S. uses for adults who take custody of immigrant children — are also subject to more background checks, proofs of income and home visits, lawyers say.

And this information is now be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement — something that did not occur in the past. ICE said this week that the agency has arrested 41 sponsors since the agencies started sharing information in June.

Chicken Parmesan

Filed under: Family, Food, Love, My Life and Rants — Scottie @ 19:04

For a while I wanted to try my hand at making Chicken Parmesan.   Now I can make a pretty good spaghetti tomato red sauce.     I had talked to Ron and he wanted me to do it also, and he would help me.  So I made the sauce like this.  Also I rarely measure anything I go by instinct, taste, and what amounts in the palm of my hand have worked well in the past.

  • In a large pot I put two cans of good rich tomato sauce.
  • Two thin sliced mild Italian sausage.
  • 1.50 pounds of ground beef. ( you can use less )
  • Three pepper mix of green, yellow, and red peppers, unmeasured (chopped)
  •  Yellow onion, unmeasured ( chopped )
  • Celery unmeasured ( chopped )
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • Two teaspoons of minced garlic.
  • Oregano poured in palm of hand.
  • Basil poured in the palm of hand.
  • Small amount of rubbed sage measured by palm of hand.
  • Small amount of thyme measured by palm of hand.
  • Salt sprinkled over top and stirred in.

I add everything into the pot and then start cooking,  including meatballs if we are having them.   I like the taste of the combined seasonings / items when they are cooked together.  I simmer this for about an hour or so, until the meat is fully cooked.  The fat in the ground beef will add flavor and thin the sauce as it starts out rather thick.   Next I set aside a few spoon fulls to cool and taste.  I then added more of the items above as needed.  Today case I add more oregano, basil, garlic, and salt.  Below is the sauce after I used half of the pot for the chicken Parmesan.

Next I took a baking dish such as something like 13 X 9.  I put a layer of the sauce on the bottom of the dish.  I next took 6 breaded chicken patties and placed them in the dish.  Next I put one thick slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each patty.  I covered the entire thing in another layer of sauce.  Then on the top I put shredded Parmesan cheese.   ( I would recommend not doing this step until you cooked the dish for like half the cooking time so the Parmesan doesn’t burn .  I pulled mine out just as the Parmesan was starting to turn to a brown color. )  You want to bake this at 400 for about 20 minutes.   I was using our large convection toaster oven instead of the big stove oven and it tends to cook faster so I cooked it for about 17 minutes, checking the Parmesan to make sure it was not burning.    As the chicken was precooked all I really needed to do was heat it all up enough to melt the cheeses and get the chicken hot.  So your times will vary.

I cooked up some angel hair pasta and put out some warmed up rolls.   I tend to cook a pound of pasta at a time as we tend to eat most of it with little left over.    We had three chicken patties and a small amount of both spaghetti and sauce left over.

That was my morning project while Ron worked on getting the inside plywood put up on the new walls he made enclosing the front room.  Ron gave me many complements and some kisses saying the meal was very good.  I admit I glowed, and enjoyed that he was so happy with the meal.

Ron is making me a new large kitchen which he has maybe a third done as he loves it when I cook.  I also enjoy cooking and making meals he enjoys.  Best wishes to everyone.  Hugs

Federal government files new regulations that will impact way migrant families are treated

https://www.revealnews.org/blog/government-seeks-to-end-court-oversight-of-how-it-treats-immigrant-children/

The proposal to end a judge’s oversight of the Flores agreement, as it’s known, comes as federal officials report that more than 500 immigrant children remain separated from their parents in the wake of President Donald Trump’s “zero-tolerance” policy.

In a news conference on Friday, child detention experts and a lawyer from the Flores legal team raised concerns that the administration’s new regulations could overturn fundamental standards of care required in the federal agreement.

“The administration is planning its next step, which we believe will result in even more suffering and trauma for children,” said Ai-jen Poo, a leader of the Families Belong Together Coalition. “By dismantling long-standing child protection under the Flores settlement agreement and implementing regulations in its place, the Trump administration is seeking to expand its power to jail families for longer in worse conditions and lock children indefinitely.”
