Shoot Them in the Legs, Trump Suggested: Inside His Border War

Filed under: Asshole / Jerk, Bigotry, Children, Criminal, Family, Hate, News, Political, Questions, Race — Scottie @ 04:19

Privately, the president had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks, the president backed off when his staff told him that was illegal. But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested that they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down. That’s not allowed either, they told him.

The Oval Office meeting this past March began, as so many had, with President Trump fuming about migrants. But this time he had a solution. As White House advisers listened astonished, he ordered them to shut down the entire 2,000-mile border with Mexico — by noon the next day.

The advisers feared the president’s edict would trap American tourists in Mexico, strand children at schools on both sides of the border and create an economic meltdown in two countries. Yet they also knew how much the president’s zeal to stop immigration had sent him lurching for solutions, one more extreme than the next.

Every year more than $200 billion worth of American exports flow across the Mexican border. Closing it would wreak havoc on American farmers and automakers, among many others. Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader, said in an interview at the time that a border shutdown would have “a potentially catastrophic economic impact on our country.”

Is there no end to the cruelty and hate this administration have for POC?

Filed under: Bigotry, Children, Criminal, Family, Fascism, Gender, Harm, Hate, News, Political, Questions, Race — Scottie @ 11:04
A few weeks ago, Sister Salome Limas started fielding some unusual requests at the women’s shelter she runs in Tijuana: The Central American asylum seekers staying at Instituto Madre Asunta began asking if she could let them out in the middle of the night so they could go to court in the United States. The women then showed her paperwork from US immigration officials, directing them to show up to the Mexican side of the San Ysidro Port of Entry at 3:30 a.m.

Limas didn’t understand why they’d need to be there at such a perilous time, especially in the murder capital of the world. For security reasons, Instituto Madre Asunta’s gates are always locked, and people staying at the shelter aren’t allowed to leave at night. So when the women said they had to leave at 3 in the morning, Limas suggested they get a hotel room closer to the port of entry—the walk from the shelter to the border is about 2 miles, through a neighborhood known for drug and alcohol abuse—and stay there for a few hours. It’d simply be too dangerous to leave the shelter with their kids at that hour.

The courthouse in San Diego where immigration hearings take place is a 25-minute drive from the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Until recently, Knox said, most Remain in Mexico asylum seekers had court in the afternoon and were asked to show up around 8 or 9 a.m. “But, like everything in this process, there’s something very intentional in all of this to make it as difficult as possible,” she said, echoing a common refrain among advocates that the Trump administration is making the asylum process additionally burdensome so migrants give up on their cases or don’t show up at the border in the first place.

The wages of cruelty: Tormented by impeachment, Trump torments the weakest

The most obvious target of this obsession are the nonwhite migrants and refugees whom the Trump administration has detained by the thousands. This is part of a larger campaign of cruelty that includes denying access to public aid and other assistance, children being been stolen from their parents, sick and dying people threatened with deportation and the loss of urgent medical care, the potential revocation of birthright citizenship, denial of access to public education, and ICE and Border Patrol raids designed to traumatize entire communities. The Trump regime does not hide its hatred towards nonwhite immigrants, refugees, and migrants. The evil is naked. Last week it was announced that the Trump regime will now be referring to those groups of people as “aliens” (they were formerly described in federal laws and regulations as “foreign nationals”). This language is intentionally designed to dehumanize nonwhite immigrants, migrants and refugees with the goal of legitimating cruelty and abuse against them.

The Trump administration’s newest targets for abuse are America’s homeless people, a population recently estimated at more than 550,000 people. Focusing his ire against California in particular, Trump is threatening to put homeless people in government camps, as the Washington Post recently reported:

Needless to say, Trump and his lackeys are not acting out of sincere concern for the safety and dignity of human beings who happen to not have homes. Instead, they are seeking to criminalize poverty and attacking America’s largest state, which is overwhelmingly Democratic. On Twitter, Diane Yentel, president and CEO of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, highlighted the Trump regime’s hypocrisy and real motives:

Trump does not hide his contempt for homeless people. He recently told reporters that homeless people have overrun the country, ruining “our best highways, our best streets, our best entrances to buildings, where people in those buildings pay tremendous taxes, where they went to those locations because of the prestige.”

This targeting of homeless people is especially sinister: In fact, Trump’s administration has threatened to designate the homeless  as human toxic waste, to be dealt with by the Environmental Protection Agency. The Hill provided these details:

An update to my last post about Channing Smith

Here is another news article about the 16 year old boy who was outed as gay by cyberbullies.   This report gives more details and also shows photos of the boy.  Hugs

Family of Teen Who Killed Himself Say He Was ‘Outed’ by Cyberbullies Shortly Before Death

This is what happens when the Christians and politicians put out hateful lies and false statements about the LGBTQ.   This is why it is so very important to push back hard on them, and why we can not let them enshrine that hate in to our laws.  To the evangelicals that talk of needing to put gay people to death, that trans people are going to rape people in bathrooms, and how being LGBTQ is an abomination you caused this!   Are you happy now?  You created a situation where a kid couldn’t face the humiliation and bulling / taunting that was going to be thrown at him because he shared natural feelings for another boy and he knew he wouldn’t get any help from the teachers / staff.  I blame every politician that complain that messages of support and caring in relation to LGBTQ is wrong, instead implying there is something horrible and wrong about them.  I posted today about a guy who did that, instead wanting Jesus pushed in schools.   Here is what the hate the sin gets you.  Here is what your claims bring.  I am angry, no I am furious that this stuff is still happening and getting worse.   Please read the article.    Hugs

The family of a 16-year-old student who took his own life earlier this week says the teen had been outed as gay or bisexual by online bullies immediately before killing himself, according to reports.

Channing Smith of Manchester, Tennessee fatally shot himself Sunday night after Coffee County Central High School classmates posted a screenshot of revealing text messages between Smith and another boy on Instagram and Snapchat, his family says.

“Being in a small, rural town in the middle of Tennessee, you can imagine being the laughing stock and having to go to school Monday morning,” he told the outlet. “He couldn’t face the humiliation that was waiting on him when he got to school on Monday, so he shot and killed himself.”

According to the report, Joshua claims that he has already heard the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office has no intention of pressing charges, but that District Attorney Craig Northcutt had told him it would take 30 days to make any decisions regarding the incident.

Northcutt has been under pressure recently, after a video surfaced of the district attorney saying he is unwilling to press domestic violence charges in same sex marriage cases. In the video Northcutt says he “disagrees with” same sex marriage, and suggests domestic violence laws exist to “protect the sanctity of marriage.” In the case of married same sex couples, he claims “no marriage exists” to protect.

I would also like to point out the bigotry of the DA.  I posted on him before.   Another one who things Gay people should not have rights and will protect a straight person who harms a gay person based on his hate for the LGBTQ communities.    Hugs

Pastor Apologizes and Leads Church in “Cleansing” Prayer After Gay Man’s Speech

Pastor Apologizes and Leads Church in “Cleansing” Prayer After Gay Man’s Speech

A Colorado pastor apologized to his congregation, then led them in a “cleansing” prayer, all because an openly gay speaker took the church’s stage during an outside event hosted there the prior week. (And now, I guess, those gay cooties are everywhere.)

Last week, hundreds of non-profit leaders gathered in the city of Del Norte to network and learn more about how to receive money for their organizations as part of an event called “Rural Philanthropy Days.” Speakers included representatives of grant-giving groups as well as state and local officials. The Community Resource Center, which sponsors the event, said that more than 750 grants totaling $22 million were given away in the community between 2009-2015.

One of the speakers on the first day of the event was Justin Garoutte, a research associate for the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE) who is working on a study that focuses on understanding and reducing LGBTQ suicide among adolescents. That would also explain why Garoutte gave a coming out story on stage. The website for the event says this was part of a session designed to highlight local storytellers.

And yet that speech was apparently so disturbing to Pastor Greg Schaffer that, days later, he led the church in prayer specifically undo the damage. A video of his sermon from September 22 was just posted online on Friday. A transcript is below.

***Update*** (9/29): Justin Garoutte confirmed all this in an email this afternoon. He added this note:

An additional aspect that you should know, during my keynote, Pastor Greg cut my mic and exclaimed from the sound booth that I needed to watch what I say. My understanding is that behind the scenes, event organizers and the final speaker… were communicating with Pastor Greg to allow me to continue my speech. My mic was eventually turned on, albeit at what seemed like a much lower volume. I was informed of Pastor Greg’s actions via a phone call on the afternoon of the event by Kim Smoyer, coordinator of the event. Despite all of this, the hundreds of folks in attendance gave me a standing ovation.

Professionally and privately, I work to build health equity for LGBTQ youth throughout the region, and I know firsthand how homophobic remarks like Pastor Greg’s increase the fear and negative health outcomes (i.e., increased risk of depression, anxiety, suicidality, substance use, among others) through minority stress for our LGBTQ family. That is why SLV Pride and the inaugural Pride Day and March this year in Alamosa were so important!

These needs to be posted everywhere

Pastor Flips Out Over “Gross” Gender-Neutral Dolls Because His Girls Want Barbie

My little girls (I have three) do not want gross, gender ill-defined, Bruce Jenner look-alike dolls… All of my daughters, as feminine as God made them, prefer anorexic, spider-legged, big-bust, eye-hazard Barbies to mutant-Barbies with a dress and a five o’clock shadow.

Whether or not the company genuinely cares or it just sees a new demographic to market to is besides the point. Children who never felt “seen” could be validated by this new line of dolls and that’s reason enough to applaud the attempt.

That validation is precisely what Hall doesn’t want. His three girls don’t speak for all children. He certainly doesn’t speak for all parents. But the market will ultimately decide if these dolls have a long shelf life.

INDIANA: DOJ Statement Backs Firing Of Gay Teacher

Filed under: Bigotry, Criminal, Fascism, Hate, Homosexual, LGBTQ, News, Political, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 12:27

The government and religion are teaming up to roll back every right gained by the LGBTQ since ww11.  If at the end of their goal of destroying the LGBTQ and our democracy they will make being LGBTQ illegal if possible or make it as it is in the horrible countries where LGBTQ can not get jobs, housing, police protections, even the families are encouraged to kill them.   As far as same sex marriage goes the evangelical leaders have already promised they would chip away at it like they did abortion so while it is legal it also is a meaningless right worth nothing, hard to get, almost impossible to use.  I am so tired of knowing once again my government I must pay taxes to support hates my existence and works with my enemies to harm me.   Isn’t life grand?   Hugs

INDIANA: DOJ Statement Backs Firing Of Gay Teacher

The Indianapolis Star reports:

In it’s statement, the DOJ said that the First Amendment protects the right of the Archdiocese to interpret and apply Catholic doctrine. It’s not clear what the DOJ’s statement means for Payne-Elliott’s suit, if anything. But his lawyer, Kathleen DeLaney, said it was “highly unusual” for the Justice Department to insert itself into a local employment issue. “What I take away from this is that the Trump administration is politicizing a legal dispute about an Indiana business tort.” DeLaney said.

Justice Department supports Indianapolis Archdiocese in firing of gay Cathedral teacher

“Josh Payne-Elliot was employed by Cathedral High School,” she said. “Cathedral High School fired my client because the archdiocese told them to and threatened to take various actions against Cathedral if they refused to fire my client.

“That is textbook intentional interference in an employment relationship. He was not employed by the archdiocese but the archdiocese had him fired.”

He is one of the three gay, married Catholic school employees fired in the last year at the direction of the archdiocese, who said they were in violation of church doctrine by being in same-sex marriages.

The employees worked at multiple schools under the purview of the Church.

In addition, Payne-Elliott’s husband, Layton Payne-Elliott, is a teacher at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. The archdiocese stripped Brebeuf of its Catholic identity after it refused to fire Layton Payne-Elliott. The Vatican recently suspended that ruling, pending an appeal from the school.

Officials at Cathedral have said they would have suffered the same fate if they had not terminated Joshua Payne-Elliot’s employment.

Judge blocks AG Nessel’s deal to stop LGBT discrimination in adoptions

A federal judge says Michigan cannot stop faith-based adoption agencies that have state contracts from refusing to put children in LGBT homes for religious reasons.

In March, Nessel and the American Civil Liberties of Michigan announced a settlement to resolve a suit filed by lesbian couples who alleged they had been turned away. Nessel says such denials are illegal discrimination.

Born-Again Christian Missionaries Are Setting Fire to Sacred Aboriginal Objects

Filed under: Bigotry, Criminal, Fascism, Harm, Hate, News, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 08:07

I guess this is the famed religious tolerance that Christians keep demanding for themselves and their faith.  But only them.  They can be totally intolerant of other religions and discriminate against people who do not live by their doctrines.   What a hateful spiteful people these Christians are.   IF someone were to burn their sacred texts, their holy book, their religious objects they would go bezerk and demand those who did it be put to death for insulting their god.   Their god is a snowflake you know who gets its feelings hurt so very easily.   Notice how they feel completely justified in forcing others to live by their silly myths and church rules.   Hugs

Born-Again Christian Missionaries Are Setting Fire to Sacred Aboriginal Objects

A group of Christian missionaries who believe traditional Aboriginal culture is the same as worshiping the devil is burning sacred objects in the Australian Outback.

Pentecostal preacher Ana Makahununiu leads the group, which is actively destroying a way of life that has already been under assault since White people first invaded. And if you needed even more reason to dislike them, the group also promises to bring people back from the dead.

The anti-Aboriginal group, made up of born-again Christians who are Aboriginal born, has also called the native culture “an act of bastardry.” They are basically dehumanizing the entire group of local people, all at the direction of someone who claims to be a “prophetess” through whom God speaks.
