WYOMING: GOP State Rep Compares Homosexuality To Pedophilia And Bestiality In Meeting With LGBT Youth

Republican politicians are so warm and caring.  Hugs

“Fourteen- and fifteen-year old high school students wishing to engage with the legislative process should not have been confronted with the comments made by Senator Hutchings.”

According to Wyoming Equality’s letter to the president of the state Senate, Hutchings said this:

“If my sexual orientation was to have sex with all of the men in there and I had sex with all of the women in there and then they brought their children and I had sex with all of them and then brought their dogs in and I had sex with them, should I be protected for my sexual orientation?”

The students met with Hutchings while participating in the annual Gay-Straight Alliance Civics Day at the Capitol.

Tennessee GOP Tries Again To Ban Same-Sex Marriage

Again notice a politician saying “god told him…”  We need to get religion out of politics.  This is another attempt to force a religious view on people who do not share that view by enshrining their religious views into secular laws.   What about all the gay people in the state, what about all the other people who think marriage rights should be for all consenting adults including same sex couples.   This is why I fight abusive religions and people who use their religion as a club to harm others.  Hugs

Known as the “Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act,” the bill by Sen. Mark Pody, R-Lebanon, and Rep. Jerry Sexton, R-Bean Station, states that the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2015 decision to legalize same-sex marriage is void in Tennessee because the state has already passed its own law and constitutional amendment limiting marriage to one man and one woman.

The bill would prohibit government officials — presumably including clerks issuing marriage certificates — from giving recognizing any court ruling that affirms same-sex unions, and specifies they cannot be arrested for failing to comply with court orders that do so.

Mark Pody, you may recall, has appeared on JMG multiple times, first in late 2015 when he declared that God had personally told him to stop same-sex marriage. According to Pody, White Jesus has tasked him with being a “watchman” to warn the wicked that the wages of their same-sex sin will be death. In 2017, Pody was the lead sponsor of his state’s anti-transgender “bathroom bill” – which failed to pass out of its committee.

Arizona Bill Would Declare Porn A “Public Health Crisis”

Filed under: Fascism, News, Political, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 07:48

Again religious views being forced on everyone

Citing concerns about the proliferation of erotic images online and their “toxic” effect on behavior, Arizona lawmakers are pushing to declare pornography a public health crisis. State Rep. Michelle Udall, R-Mesa, introduced a measure that declares the crisis and states porn “perpetuates a sexually toxic environment that damages all areas of our society.”

…  but supporters say they hope it opens the door to new restrictions on porn.

Similar measures declaring a crisis have passed in at least 11 states, using similar text from model legislation written by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. The group, formerly known as Morality in Media, contends porn is directly connected to other acts of exploitation.

Morality In Media was launched in 1962 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side by a Catholic priest who went on to become an anti-porn crusader for the Reagan administration.

WV GOP Rep: Gays Are A Modern Day “Terrorist KKK”

Please note again how religion has taken over the secular government of the the USA.   This man is a Baptist Preacher.    He is seeking to impose his religious faith on everyone else!  He does not care if you are a believer or if you have a different belief, he feels you MUST obey his church doctrines.  IF you are outside of his understanding of what his god approves, then you must be done away with.  How is this different from Islamic sharia law?   Hugs

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports:

“The LGBTQ is a modern day version of the Ku Klux Klan, without wearing hoods with their antics of hate,” Porterfield said in an interview Friday morning. He also called the gay community a “terrorist group” and said he is being “persecuted” by the gay community in retaliation for his remarks, including receiving threats on Facebook and voicemails.

Porterfield’s original rant came in support of a GOP bill that would override any local LGBT rights ordinance. That bill failed in committee. Porterfield is a Baptist preacher and runs an outfit called Blind Faith Ministries, so-named because he is severely vision-impaired

TEXAS: Christian Hate Group Launches New Campaign Claiming That LGBT Rights Laws Literally Ban The Bible

Filed under: Bigotry, Fascism, Gender, Homosexual, News, Political, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 13:12

It also came up this week at a Carrollton city council meeting when the city became the latest to pass an anti-discrimination ordinance protecting LGBTQ people.

“Ban the Bible is an effort to educate people on what sex orientation, gender identity bills are doing,” Hudgens said. Hudgens said the bills aim to punish businesses who refuse to serve LGBTQ people.

Texas Values is headed by Jonathan Saenz, who is apparently still furious that his wife left him for another woman.

Christian “Family Values Warrior” hypocrite seems to not understand this is a secular nation

TENNESSEE: Four Times Married Alleged Adulterer Files Bill To Ban Same-Sex Couples From Adoption Services

Hensley has been divorced four times. In 2015 his most recent ex-wife took out an order of protection against him after she claimed he deliberately hit her twice with his car.

There’s also this charming tidbit via Wikipedia: “For several years, Hensley attempted to pass a bill allowing college counselors to refuse to serve LGBT students who are considering suicide. This bill was eventually signed into law in 2016.”

Juicy un-Christian fuckery details (his cousin!) are at the second link above. Hensley was also the sponsor of Tennessee’s infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill and authored a bill which would have declared children conceived via artificial insemination to be illegitimate.

Again religion tries to ruin education for all children

Filed under: Atheism, Children, Criminal, Education, Fascism, Harm, News, Political, Questions, Religion — Scottie @ 07:33

Religious politicians try to again force their myth in to the education system and on to everyone’s children.  Why teach children the facts as best we know them?  Why use the science that has shown what our reality is?  Why teach what we can show and prove when we can teach an unfounded myth that has no evidence to show it is anything more than a fable written in the iron age?   Science has moved us into the modern age, it is time to leave the fables behind.   Hugs

Another child dead due to religious belief

A 7-Year-Old Boy Was Beaten and Killed for Not Memorizing Bible Verses

Another child’s death, courtesy of adults who loved the Bible more than they loved a child.

These people may be anomalies, but what’s not surprising is the idea that memorizing Bible verses matters far more than putting those verses into practice. It’s a reminder that pushing the Bible on kids in any sort of way, even in an extreme case like this, is useless. What matters is teaching ethics and values — which these adults clearly never did.

I am so tired of these bigoted idiots

For example, Hagedorn twice wrote that a landmark gay rights ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court striking down a Texas anti-sodomy law could lead to the legalization of bestiality, sex with animals, in America. “The idea that homosexual behavior is different than bestiality as a constitutional matter is unjustifiable,” he wrote in October 2005.

TEXAS: Wedding Venue Rejects Gay Couple Because Same-Sex Marriage Isn’t In “God’s Design”

Aaron Lucero and Jeff Cannon wanted a country wedding. They say they still do, even after what they thought was their dream venue turned them away. “It’s still the idea,” Lucero, 29, told McClatchy. “Planning your wedding is supposed to be this joyous, happy moment in your lives, and this was so jarring because it happened literally the first week we started looking for venues in earnest.”

But the Venue at Waterstone, in Celina, Texas, refused to host Lucero and Cannon, according to an email sent to the couple the night before they were to tour the rustic event space about 40 miles north of Dallas. In the email, the venue’s owner Lyle Wise explains that he’s only turning the couple away based on their sexual orientation because of his “love and gratitude” to God.

It is legal in Texas to fire, evict or refuse service to someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Another Republican Christian wants kids taught their fables in science class

Filed under: Children, Criminal, Education, News, Political, Questions, Reason, Religion — Scottie @ 12:09

If Baxley wants alternatives to settled science taught — because he’s a Christian who doesn’t accept reality, or a conservative who doesn’t accept reality, or a Republican who doesn’t accept reality — it would come at the expense of teaching kids what experts already know is valid. There’s no controversy about, say, climate change among scientists who study the subject for a living. Much like anti-vaxxers, the only people who doubt the science are people who have a lot to gain from spreading misinformation.
